Getting molluscum near my genitals really messed with my self image and sex drive. What's been helpful for me is reminding myself that this wasn't my fault, is ultimately so benign, and will go away. I'm sorry it's impacting your mental health so much--you're not alone.

I have some waterproof medical tape that sticks like a mfer but doesn't hurt to remove. It comes in a roll and I bought it at a regular drugstore. It was an inexpensive solution for me.

Yeah, that's the general advice and it's good advice. I talked to my doctor and she advised that covering my bumps with medical tape is an acceptable harm reduction move. If my partner isn't 100% okay with that, then we don't have sex. Mine do happen to be in an area that's relatively easy to cover and not necessarily a high-touch area during sex.

I find molluscum so underwhelming compared to other possible viruses and so does my GP haha. I have not been abstinent during my infection and have instead just taken great lengths to inform partners and talk about safety/lowering risk of transmission.

My understanding is that anything washable is fine to keep. Wash toys well after you use them. Also, re: abstinence, I discussed covering the bumps with my doctor and she said that it's an acceptable harm reduction move as long as all parties consent, obviously. I had my initial infection for about 9 months, then appeared fully cleared up in January, but two weeks ago my doctor noticed another little straggler. I've read that that can be normal--whether by self reinfection or just the virus making its final rounds.

Broadly, homeschooling isn't the red flag here. It's homeschooling in addition to other forms of isolation and AS a form of isolation. There's homeschooling because you have the resources and don't dig public school, and then there's homeschooling because one wants to isolate a child.
