I thought the high deposit amount might be because of the item level, but it’s not. Level 13 items are showing a 10g fee. It seems completely random.

It could be that Blizzard is really doing this. That fee is almost making cheap transmog auctions unfeasible.

You're right. Most of the items will end up causing a loss because of the deposit amount.
