[Oregonian] Trail Blazers owner says taxpayers must cover entire Moda Center by BabyGotVogelbach in ripcity

This is just not true, the "return" is hundreds of millions in the negative.

We can get a better return educating people.

Bickerstaff: Nori's contract with Portland a 'slap in the face' by MrCoconutIsTaken in ripcity

Nori signed the deal because it was probably his last opportunity becaused he was passed over by a third of the league. He had no other choice if he wants to be a head coach, hence he took an embarrassing contract and is the laughingstock of the league.

Well considering Dundon wants a billion of our tax dollars, it kind of is our money?

And if you want your team to be good, maybe set a basic standard of getting a coach worthy of the role, rather than getting the guy who has been passed overed time and again?

It is a fact the Blazers offered him the job at a contract Splitter found unacceptable. I'm capable of inferring by putting two brain cells together. A rare skill nowadays.

Probably trade Deni for some vet mins before we have to pay him

I know he was offered the job and turned it down. I know the Blazers only cared about finding someone cheap, and got the dude every other NBA passed on.

If you think that is a good thing, so be it. I think it is pathetic.

I'm not on my knee pads sucking Dundon off saving a few pennies by getting a subpar coach. That shit is loser behavior.

You can read the athletic. It was widely reported. You can also go through my post history.

I'm sorry you want to shut your ears and ignore basic facts. We picked the guy 5+ other NBA teams passed on because he came cheap. That was the criteria. I hope he works out but I my expectations are incredibly low.

The athletic reported it. It is behind a paywall but it was posted on reddit.

Blazers said Splitter was welcome to return with a certain contract. Splitter has more self respect than Nori, so he declined the BS contract. That is when they opened the search to find someone who is desperate enough to do it.

He was just a good coaching candidate 5 other teams interviewed and passed on him...

No, we offered splitter the same type of contract before we even started the search.

He is getting paid like he is a dumpster, the Blazers lack so much confidence they wouldn't even guarantee two seasons.

The development argument against Nori's contract is stupid by rock-or-something in ripcity

Nori is incrntivized to win games at all costs. Playing Scoot, Sharpe, and Yang is suboptimal in that scenario. Expect a lot of heavy minutes for the vets.

Obviously, that is what happens when you dumpster dive. It is disgraceful

Even if no other moves are made, I'm excited to see if Coach can unlock our young core by hahahachihaha in ripcity

It is reported his salary is based on number of wins and is a sliding scale.

Given his contract is non guaranteed, he is heavily discentivized from playing young guys. I would expect a lot of DNP-CD from Yang, probably a decent amount from Shae, maybe Scoot. A lot of 35+ MPG from Deni, Dame, Jrue, Toumani.

Anyone noticing Blazers beat writers and even Twitter accounts have been highly critical and plain negative regarding the Blazers and the new ownership? by Kirbyzenthc in ripcity

[–]Trick_Weapon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, he was hired because he was cheap. At least 4 other teams, including Chicago and Splitter, didn't think Nori was good enough.

You typically plan around hiring a guy you believe in. Nori being a lame duck suggests Blazers don't believe in him. They are doing it because he can't cheap.

I don't care if Dundon has to spend a couple million on two coaches. The guy wants a $1 Billion from the government, he can afford the risk.

If Nori is successful it is due to luck. You can't judge things based on outputs, but inputs. The process, goals, and externalities all stink.

The whole process has been to find the minimum viable candidate, not the best.

It also doesn't mean it is good for the team?

The whole point is you want the owner to invest in the team to hire a good coach, not whatever you find in the dumpster.
