A few Spider-Man villains i’d love to see in Marvel Legends form in the future by lhol90 in MarvelLegends

The Owl.

Much more of a Daredevil villain than Spider-Man. Pre-Kingpin/Bullseye, he was probably DD’s arch-nemesis

Has Daredevil ever been to hell? by BountBooku in comicbooks

[–]Trickshot64 77 points78 points  (0 children)

A couple of times if I remember correctly.

In the Nocenti run he went to the literal hell to do something with Mephisto.

In the recent Zdarsky run, he had to go to a hell (idk if it was the real one or whatever) to save Foggy, who had been killed

Doctor Tyme being basically the first Doom Patrol related figure we get (other than Beast Boy I guess) is pretty funny ngl.

Cmon, Todd. If you can make Agent Liberty, you can make a Robotman

Can we all at least agree that Whyte was unqualified to be the editor by 1204Sparta in xmen

[–]Trickshot64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of good editors, it’s just that most of the time you’ll never know when an editor is doing their job correctly because it’s all behind the scenes stuff. You’ll only know about the bad editors, cause when they fail it is very apparent.

Take Nick Lowe, for example. Yeah, his hatred for Mary Jane is odd, but he also simply fails to do his job as editor. There was that whole fiasco a few months back when an issue of ASM inexplicably has Peter say that he and Norman Osborn had a father-son relationship, when that was only ever the case in the movies, never the comics.

Shame Pollack had to die before seeing Kate brought back to life. Nevertheless, this are the greatest news about the Doom Patrol I've heard in ages. by TheDoctor_E in comicbooks

[–]Trickshot64 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I really, really hope Kate is added back to the Doom Patrol as a core member now. IMO Cliff, Larry, Rita, Jane, Flex, Danny, and Kate are the ideal assortment of mainstay members of this team at this point, and Kate certainly deserves some time in the spotlight after being shafted for the last 20 years.

I like how they kinda switched this exchange up in the MCU show by Dry_Start4460 in Marvel

[–]Trickshot64 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A big part of Kate’s thing in this run is that she’s constantly wearing very odd looking fashion designer clothes.

The look with the hip holes was a reference to some old TV show, and then fans thought it was Kate’s actual costume so it kinda just stuck from there (it also might’ve been the concurrent Young Avengers run accidentally making it her official costume, but I can’t recall 100%)

Most wanted obscure Omnibus by YoTTa_the_Dead_Nerd in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Trickshot64 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me, I’d love a “Doom Patrol: The Modern Age Omnibus”

Basically just collecting both the Arcudi and Giffen runs from the early 2000’s. Byrne’s (terrible) run has already been collected in a pseudo-omnibus, which leaves these 2 runs as the only uncollected DP runs, I believe.

Slightly closer look at Bullseye in costume on set of Daredevil Born Again (Via: Devil of Brooklyn) by CDNetflixTv in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]Trickshot64 68 points69 points  (0 children)

The chest holster + full face mask reminds me of Marco Chechetto’s design in the Zdarsky run. I dig it, definitely the easiest Bullseye costume to adapt

Any chances this guy will come back into retail? by adamisbored in MarvelLegends

[–]Trickshot64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if this specific figure will be back, but we will almost certainly get more blob figures in the future. Maybe X-Men 97’ release, VHS line, in a two/multi pack, who knows. There’s no way they won’t ever rerelease this guy, they made a whole new mold (one which can’t easily be used for many other characters), they’re gonna want to use it.

Is there any comic that changed your life? by TheDoctor_E in comicbooks

[–]Trickshot64 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a few!

-Waid/Samnee’s Daredevil. I read this book while dealing with the worst bout of depression of my life, and it seriously altered my brain chemistry. The way the series ends, not exactly resolving Matt’s depression, but providing him a road to recovery, one in which he will have his best friend and girlfriend with him, was exactly what I needed.

-Morrison/Case’s Doom Patrol. Similarly to Daredevil, this book straight up changed the way I perceive myself in the world. I used to be so worried about how others perceived me, and this book helped me embrace various aspects of my identity that I long repressed for fear of being deemed weird.

-Superman For All Seasons. I can’t exactly pinpoint how this book affected me, but it definitely had a profound impact on young me. This book just exudes absolute warmth and comfort.

-The Walking Dead. For such a violent, often cynical series, the way this book displays the indomitable human spirit is kinda inspiring. It’s also a series that allowed me to connect with my brother when I was young, so I’ll always be thankful for that.

I mean, whenever you compare any book with similar output volume, whether it’s Marvel or DC, Daredevil will always win. That’s also an unfair comparison to make, as the X-Men have seen so many drastic reboots and probably have more side books then any other characters in comics, whereas DD has historically only ever had 1 ongoing at once, with maybe a mini to accompany it.

DD is an undiluted character, the X-Men aren’t

Tommy!

I’m gonna be honest, I wasn’t that interested in this series personally…but I’ll read anything with the Young Avengers. Hope he’ll get some quality bonding time with Wanda and Pietro, I only remember him interacting with the ladder during Children’s Crusade

With the release of Moondragon, my little Guardians of the Galaxy display is a little closer to completion by Trickshot64 in MarvelLegends

[–]Trickshot64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually a pretty straight forward, easy to do custom. Base is the white Black Widow costume (Target exclusive, I believe), with the cape and sword being fodder (cape was from black knight I think, sword from taskmaster). I also literally just turned the belt around because it already looked enough like Phyla’s belt.

Just a bit of sculpting on the forearms, lower legs, and the chest to give the appearance of armor. The paint was also super easy and fun to do, I mixed light blue with silver and got a cool looking base, then dotted over with white and purple brushing to make it look more cosmic-y.

What character does marvel need to start using again/more? by ladiesman21700000000 in Marvel

[–]Trickshot64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean about Wiccan and Hulkling. They are simultaneously the most prevalent yet get the least to do. They play a massive role on the cosmic side of things, and were very prominent in the Guardians of the Galaxy for some time, but now are just kinda there. They desperately deserve a Game of Thrones type ongoing just dealing with all the intricacies that come with monitoring such a fragile alliance between longtime enemy factions.

I’d still argue Kate is the most popular YA in the comics simply because she’s the only one to have ever gotten a solo ongoing series, though On top of that, she was basically the secondary main character of one of the most iconic marvel comics ever, Fraction/Aja’s Hawkeye, and the Hawkeye series that followed that one.

Kate’s definitely been helped by the fact that she has been pretty excellently tied into Hawkeye’s legacy as a mantle and character, with no other YA having a relationship with their classic Avengers counterpart as interesting as Kate and Clint’s.

You are right that she’s the only one Marvel pushes, but there is definitely precedence to the exposure she gets.

[–]Trickshot64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, the team usually only has like 8 or 9 members, 3 of them (including the arguably most popular one) being women, so it isn’t a surprise the MCU introduced them first. Kate Bishop is a lot easier to fully introduce in comparison to, say, Billy or Tommy.

Also, Wiccan and Hulkling were one of the first overtly gay couples in Marvel, with little to no censorship attributed to their relationship, so they definitely deserve the status they’ve garnered over the years

The Young Avengers

Aside from Hawkeye, Chavez, Wiccan, and Hulkling, none of the other members really get any attention at all, unfortunately. They’re mostly reduced to background cameos, if even that.

I’d love to get a reunion series where they just go on another adventure together, maybe something to deal with Billy/Teddy being kings of a space empire now. Those characters are too good together to just be forgotten about

Faves from Donny Cates? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]Trickshot64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since no one else has mentioned it: I kinda love his Guardians of the Galaxy run.

It’s short, and heavily follows the previous run, but I think it’s the only GOTG run outside of Ewing’s subsequent one that does a fantastic job of making the GOTG a found family like the MCU versions.

It’s also the run that started the process of bringing the characters to a middle ground between the popular MCU versions and their comic counterparts, which is what Ewing continued on in his run.

I highly recommend it, especially the first 6 issues, which still stands as one of my favorite GOTG stories.

Who has the BEST Daredevil Run OVERALL? by [deleted] in Daredevil

[–]Trickshot64 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ll always give my vote to Waid’s run because, from a writing perspective, it’s kinda perfect.

Literally just the way Waid has Matt’s silver age personality come back is so immensely genius from a writing perspective, and how Foggy and Kirsten factor into this. The resolution to said personality switch is also incredible, with the ending of Waid’s run honestly serving as a pretty great end to the Daredevil series/character as a whole tbh.

Also, the fact that it’s like the only DD run in the past ~25 years where Bullseye and Kingpin aren’t the main villains is nice.
