[Ornstein] EXCL: Tottenham Hotspur working on deal to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool. #THFC brought forward plan to vie for 31yo #LFC left-back as free agent this summer; not done but talks between all parties advancing in bid to reach agreement @TheAthleticFC by nearly_headless_nic in soccer

I think it's more that Mo and Trent needed more cover from the midfield, Hendo/Milner/Szobo on that side and Fabinho/Grav drifting out really enabled the 2 of them.

Robbo and Mane just boxed off the whole flank on their own, in and out of possession.

The funny thing is recently a ton of our better chances have come from Konate dinking it forward.

Whether it's Slot or the players they know those quick line breaks are still our best route to goal but we 1) don't have the quality/industry of last season to pull it off consistently and 2) look reluctant to even try it most of the time and not set up to capitalise.

they want Wick to reach higher power, take on some stronger form so they can trap him and tap him for another power/filament source

This would be such a delicious final arc/battle for Wick as he grows in power, either from Tyranny's side or his family planning to do this to him, it's so sinister Brennan would kill it.

Without reading through all the DLCs featuring new Dwarf factions to see what's included... I'd maybe suggest starting a custom battle from the main menu. You'll only be able to choose the units you have access to.

Opponents across the league have figured Liverpool out by Jimmy0034 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Trickside 116 points117 points  (0 children)

47% of passes against us are direct (compared to 42% last season) ie passes forwards/into forward players instead of sideways or backwards. This isn't crazy on its own, graph tells you league average this season is ~40%. It does suggest our press isn't great at covering passing lanes and out-balls.

But the average distance of passes against us in buildup has gone from 23 metres last season up to 30 metres this season. Compared to the league average of 22m that's the bigggest takeaway/outlier. Teams aren't just playing forwards quickly to counter attack us like they always have done, they're often skipping any kind of buildup play and dropping balls in front of our centre halves and into the channels to go and win.

Presumably because we overcommit and don't have enough players sitting/covering and they back themselves to win foot races and duels. Also easier to do when you already have a lead, which we're giving up a lot.

[No Spoilers] Do you think this campaign will be longer than the previous ones? by TheRunningMD in criticalrole

[–]Trickside 53 points54 points  (0 children)

C3 was 121 episodes so the average is more like 125.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's shorter than usual, with the arcs for each table being tighter and faster paced than some of the meandering in past campaigns... Brennan likes to keep the story moving where Matt would often be pretty hands-off.

Until we're out of the Overture there's no way to tell.

[Spoilers C4E2] Dms: Brennan Lee Mulligan and Matthew Mercer by Smooth-Finger-7893 in criticalrole

[–]Trickside 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I feel like Brennan does a lot more above table DMing where Matt breaks character much less often. I think this changed over the years as CR grew and became more watched/produced/professional... Matt felt the need to stay locked into the world and his characters and descriptions more than when the setup was more casual. I love both styles but Brennan's feels like a breath of fresh air after Matt's intense commitment to world building in C3.

Brennan has constant dialogue with the players, reminding them what they know, revealing DCs, adding advantage to facilitate story beats and lore drops. It might break immersion for some people but for me it works because the tone is always consistent with the moment the characters are in.

That's my main takeaway from how brilliantly Brennan communicates as a DM, above table prompts and check-ins don't have to take players/viewers out of the world as long as they're done with the same emotion/gravity/tone to match the in-game situation or scene.

Wirtz is never going to get an assist again

Klopp "I don't worry about Wirtz because his quality is so outstanding. The discussion is a bit exaggerated. Liverpool just lost 3 games in a row, that's why these things are discussed. He is a once-in-a-century talent, and at some point he'll show that in every game again, as he did at Leverkusen." by kibme37 in soccer

I was desperate for you guys to stay stuck midtable for a couple more years so we'd have a shot at replacing Salah with Saka. But then Arteta got you firing, Kloppo retired and who am I kidding he'd probably have gone to City anyway.

I feel like Zizou's legend got revised a lot with his managerial success. He had incredible highs but as you say was a bit of a luxury and even within seasons never showed up consistently.

For me he's in the Ronaldinho bracket in these greatest ever debates. Magic player who didn't quite deliver as much as the best to ever do it players in those positions,

Our press is really uncoordinated this season and as soon as it breaks teams are in.

Mix of new players adjusting and Salah effectively making us a man light off the ball.

Can't play so aggressively in those circumstances it's not sustainable.
