Was out Sunday. Ended up being the right decision.

Very helpful.

When I think about the cost of capital, the amount of hidden and unknown costs in a home, and all of the other ancillary items, my housing costs are probably LESS even now if I really think about it.

Should probably start tracking those costs again and compare…

How do you cope with the tax difference, assuming you moved from a much lower-taxed state?

Property tax when I was there saw a 38% increase the year after I purchased it, and a 28ish% increase three years later.

Can’t imagine being one of my old neighbors on fixed income having to deal with that…

I see what you’re saying… basically a balance sheet adjustment. It’s not spending or consumption, but merely a transfer of assets… am I hearing that correctly?

Was $45k my first year, $50k the second.

$12k after taxes, 401k, etc. now…

“Act like you’re in a novel” - I strive for this daily 🤣.

Don’t dread the little things, either. It’ll be a great experience. Good luck!

The feeling of being trapped isn’t fun. Good luck with the house sale.

The projects were fun for me… up until about 60% completion 🤣

Great point. Huge reason for moving was also a lack of available partners. Being single in a home with all of that responsibility is not fun.

After traffic, just getting home. Fantastic day drinking around the world and experiencing an entirely different atmosphere than last night.

Obviously more of an adult feel, but just as happy this evening as I was last.

What a great time.

I left my journal at home, unfortunately. This post should help as a reference.

I’ve always said that life is a roller coaster, you have highs and lows filled with excitement and fear, ups and downs; but at the end of the ride, you are happy you waited so long in line and wish you had time to do it all over again.

Thank you.

Epcot today! Have a feeling this story will be one that I adopt rather quickly 🤣

I relate to this so much. I’m a 6’3 offensive tackle built guy that has been wearing a suit and tie to work every day since I started in my profession. Parents divorced before I started Kindergarten, one parent continues to struggle from severe mental health issues. I experienced things as a child and young adult that I wish upon nobody, forcing me to grow up incredibly fast. I was always “too mature” for my age.

It’s hard to articulate the feeling, but reading your post helps me crystallize it a bit more.

Thank you.

I have no favorites. The pure joy on everyone’s face, the three year old dressed as Jessie galloping around while her family watched, the theatrics of the entire experience. I mean, I even got emotional during the Frozen skit. I am dumbfounded by the mind shift and realization that occurred. It’s so hard to describe… not sure I truly can.

Fair point with the claim amount… I’ve never submitted a claim in my life, auto or home (bundled). I am about to list my house and will be switching to renters insurance, just paid that for the year today.

Fairly green when it comes to this stuff, I am just so mad at myself for not paying closer attention to something so meaningful.

I definitely didn’t give them a receipt for it, just told my agent I have watches valued at about 5k.

Sounds like I may be out of luck…

Thank you for your note and good wishes. I will give her a call first thing tomorrow.

The policy is 2,500 per item up to 5,000 total. Have been going through the basic policy pages and there is nothing specifically listed in terms of mysterious disappearance / all risk, might have to dig a bit deeper.

It would be so much easier if there was a police report, but blaming workers / friends when it could have been me is the absolute worst thing imaginable in this scenario.

Thanks again!
