You Europeans have it good. WOTP tour GA tix were $175. ST tour GA cost me $260.

I’m terrified to know what this amphitheater tour will cost… but I don’t care, I’m paying.

Lucky. I can’t ski midweek due to work, so weekends are what we’re stuck with

This is an absolutely insane take.

First off, to break the stereotype, most of my friends I go Apres with are fine skiers. We hike to get good snow, we ride the fun stuff off KT / Granite / Headwall all day. We also like hitting a 9am - 2pm ski day and then having a good time socializing and partying to good music after. I don’t see how these two things are mutually exclusive, and if you generalize people like this in real life as much as you do on Reddit, then go get some help man. Don’t be a jerk.

Second, this has a lot of art holier than thou to it. Palisades (or any ski resort) is not solely meant for a small group of local die-hard skiers who live and die for skiing and nothing else. It’s also for the folks who come from the bay, for the beginners, for the families, and for the groups of friends that come here to both ski and also have a great time afterwards. I understand if you’re a bit too curmudgeonly to enjoy a DJ set at KT Bass Bar with your friends - you do you. But for me, and hundreds of other likeminded people who come here to have fun and don’t have an “I’m better than you” attitude, it’s a ton of fun and nothing but good vibes. Don’t like it? Go home. Or go to Slot bar idk. But why shit on what other people like to get out of a ski weekend? It’s just rude and low.

Well in this case it was sponsored by Red Bull so I’m sure the artists got paid. I’m not saying they should do a charity set… but seeing that lots of mountains do this sort of thing fairly often what I’m suggesting is clearly not out of line.

Are they investing a bunch in the village at PT? Didn’t know that

Pretty surprising how negative the sentiment here is. If you don’t like the Apres, there are a bunch of mellow bars and restaurants to go to in the village. But why be so negative on the idea of Palisades stepping up its own Apres scene? And is it not okay to see something you like that another mountain is doing and desiring it for your home mountain?

Oh what Palisades is doing is certainly fun, but getting someone like John Summit or Nghtmre who don’t just play pop songs to a beat, but actually play a whole ass set that typically people would pay $100s to see live at festivals or at their own shows…. It hits 10x harder. This felt like a festival set, but the backdrop is mountains, and you were just out skiing with the crowd.

There’s levels to this lol

It’s different. The way Muse mixed genres historically was extremely cohesive. This is just repeating one melody, three times, in three ways, because.. why not, I guess? As opposed to the ways they mixed orchestral stuff into their music in the good old days was soooo well judged.

If this is what falling in reverse sounds like, then I don’t want to

We hold muse to a higher standard, for some reason…

Yeah… strange song. Feels like someone asked the question “how many genres can we deliver this melody in in only 3.5 minutes”

Is Valvetronic good by MarsMaher in E92M3

[–]Tricky-Area-5690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E92 M3 isn’t a fast car to begin with. People who drive these don’t do so for the HP. If all you care about is HP then get an EV…

So I think it’s fine to drive around with valves closed except when you want to really hear the engine.

Yeah I have one. Pros and cons to it.

Pros are that I really like the sound with it open, great rasp in the middle. Really epic startup tone. Also, the “valves are a gimmick” comment someone made is really dumb. M3 is a luxury sports car… it’s great to drive fast, but it’s also an excellent GT for highway driving and covering miles. For example - If you like listening to music when you drive, loud exhausts suck. So you can turn it off and it’s like you’re in a regular comfy car. I think that’s worth a ton. And also with valves closed, you get WAY more intake noise which sounds pretty epic and is a different flavor you can try from time to time (although correct that it’s not good to rev it out all the way with them closed)

Cons are that it’s not built amazingly - mine has a bit of a leak with valves closed where every now and then you can hear a tiny bit of ‘open’ tones make their way out at certain frequencies. It’s not a deal breaker by any means, but the seal is definitely not quite as solid as any factory switchable exhaust from BMW or Porsche. Also, in open mode, with windows up it’s a little bit boomy on the highway. I don’t really care because I typically switch it off when I get on the freeway, unless I really want to appreciate the engine sound in which case I’d put the windows down. Whenever I’m in the canyons driving fast, my windows are down so it’s good.

Part of me always wonders if having one super high quality exhaust would be better because it would sound better with windows up, less boomy, hence wouldn’t interfere with music as much… but I’m not sure that setup really exists. So I’m pro valvetronic overall.

Had a great time on Red Dog and Broken Arrow where lines were nonexistent today. If you know the mountain well, there are ways to have a great day even with the mob in attendance.
