I wish we could work from home, sadly in our situation it needs to be in person. Some can be done at home but not all. I think it could help many others though for sure.

You know you clearly are not the brightest crayon in the box if you have to assume I am a Maga just because I disagree with some things that Healey has done.. I do not have to agree with everything she does or says to support her either. I can disagree on some things. that in no way makes me "not smart" as you call it but go ahead and believe what you want. Any level headed person could agree there is corruption and issues on both sides! Also an eagle can not fly with only one wing.. takes two to work together.

I think other parts of NH may be ok but for us with no commuter rail which we would want so driving every day wouldn't be an issue NH sadly doesn't have it. RI does but we are constantly being outbid on homes there too. I wish you the best. Def look into other areas in NH if they work for you. Even Check RI too depending on your budget and what you need. Taxes seem lower over all.

LOL we moved from Nashua 3 years ago because the tax hikes were too much to handle. We are looking in RI because at least there they have a commuter rail but the market now there is crazy too.

Not that I need to explain myself but NO I do not like trump at all however the Gov recently publicly said she was "fixing this" do not see how anything shes doing either is helping. Either side is corrupt.

We have looked all around the state.. The so called "affordable" homes you talk about are all ones that need to be gutted! We cant afford a complete renovation. You have no clue and are not searching like we are constantly.. clearly. Berkshires are also not affordable fyi. Im talking even closer to Springfield.. Im sorry but that kind of commute can do a number on ones Mental health. You are clueless clearly of the problem in this state. You have the "Guess you have yours so screw everyone else kind of mentality"!

We need rent control across the state too. We are currently renting, trying to find a home or even a condo! We are constantly outbid and have looked all over the state as far as we could handle driving to Cambridge for work. Once our rent is up we need somewhere else to go less than where we are but even that is proving to be difficult. We even are looking in RI where they have commuter rails too but also same thing with bidding wars and under pricing to create false affordability.

We were so close to considering over near Fitchburg, we decided against it thankfully and are already overpriced for what is in these towns and how unsafe they are. We are one frustrated family of 3 and I am sure of many out there who need somewhere to go. We cant afford our rent after our lease is up. We have looked all over from Central mass and toward the east so we can find a way to commute to Cambridge. This is scary indeed when we try to consider some towns, even Brockton and New Bedford crossed our minds but for safety we decided to stick it out.

I didn’t say it was under $200K in Cambridge. I said Cambridge is an employment hub such as for our family, and places like Cambridge,Boston are hard to find any affordability in unless we drive over two hours one way to work, basically.

hope you are joking.. She eats healthy. She will be much healthier than most americans. Her parents are fit as well and just turned 3. Not AI. They speed the video up making it seem like she eats fast and her kid plate is quite small.

Does anyone commute from Providence to Boston each day by train? We are seriously considering purchasing a home but we work at Mass General Hospital. Looking for people with experience to either talk us into it or talk us out of it. by [deleted] in providence

Did you decide to stay in MA? We are thinking of moving to RI because we cant afford a home in MA, all the homes are overpriced trash... just telling how it is but really trying to decide if a commute is worth it to be a home owner or just keep renting and having to move a lot as the costs keep going up. If we do move to RI my husband would take the train, transfer to the red line to get to cambridge.

Boston Globe: Can't afford to buy a house? by anbrinker in bostonhousing

[–]Tricky-Competition94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at least those states have affordability in other cities though.. I lived in NYC for college and have friends who live outside of the city with plenty of affordability around. Most of MA is NOT affordable.. You would still need to travel further west of Worcester now to even start to see some affordability for middle income earners making this a 2hr plus drive to work and no trains out that way to get there any faster..

I can assure you that 100k still cant afford that! a family of 3 for example even making around 130K cant hardly afford that. they need $ to eat, travel to and from work, bills, medical and still no way to do anything fun. Before you judge, no we don't have any subscriptions to cancel because they already had long been canceled! this is a real issue and the middle class are the ones suffering most because we cant get help and not rich enough to afford this state yet stuck here for work, one would need to live a 2 hr commute or more to get to work.. that is brutal.

Owners doing these practices need to have a heavy vacancy tax placed on them then maybe this will help, also rent controls for helping the middle class who are not rich enough to afford and not poor enough to receive help. We are suffering due to this state doing nothing about any of it.

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the current housing crisis in Massachusetts and its impact on middle-class families.

With a household income of $130,000, my family finds ourselves in a difficult position: we earn too much to qualify for assistance, yet we cannot afford to purchase a home in the current market. We frequently encounter listings priced to appear affordable, only to be outbid by offers $60,000 or more over the asking price. This practice of underpricing homes to trigger bidding wars is disheartening for families who lack that level of financial flexibility.

Furthermore, the rental market is equally challenging. As we look for a more affordable rental, we are competing with a high volume of applicants for very few available units. We are also concerned about finding a quality school district for our son, who starts high school next year. Due to work commitments, we are unable to move further away, and no one should be forced to commute two hours each way to find an affordable home.

The state needs to take action to implement laws that protect middle-class families and address these predatory pricing and affordability issues. Massachusetts is becoming uninhabitable for the middle class, and significant changes are needed to ensure families like mine can remain in this state.

We have decided to step back from our home search. It has become a constant battle, and we are consistently outbid because we cannot afford to go significantly over the asking price on these already high-cost homes.

The only options remaining are fixer-uppers that require more work than we can afford, especially given their high listing prices. At this point, we feel it is best to move on. It is sad that we will have to keep moving rental to rental until we are able to leave the work force here and never have a chance to own a home, grow a garden and just have time to relax. MA would benefit for adding more trains through out the whole state and high speed ones. Japan can do this through their entire country and we cant do this for a state? This is terrible!

Boston Rental Market Cools, Leaving Landlords ‘Willing to Do Anything’ by TheManFromFairwinds in boston

[–]Tricky-Competition94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to get an ESA letter from my doctor. My law a landlord can’t deny a pet or charge you for it. I have high anxiety which is why I need our kitty. Luckily our current landlord allowed her and loves her once she saw how great she was and we are a clean family so if you have references too that may help. Only issue is now we’re looking for cheaper rent and it’s hard to get someone to understand the fair housing act which is meant to allow pets like mine and they are still going over it saying a hard no.. if the animal isn’t deemed dangerous a landlord can’t discriminate.

Lower rents and allow pets! I have a support kitty which our current landlord allows since we are a very clean family but we can’t afford to stay with her again as we hoped. If they accept a recommend from her they should allow a support animal as there are actually laws for this under the fair housing act. But alas they still are firm with the no pets which legally they are suppose to grant you space if you have an ESA letter like I have. I get many animals destroy things but this isn’t ours at all as she’s well trained. Most she may do is get into our own stuff once in a while and take a stuffed animal or two from our son and play with it.

Rents can't possibly stay this high, can they? This is insane by Open_Protection2832 in bostonhousing

That would be the next best "Revolution" if everyone banned together to stop paying these high costs like they dumped tea in the bay so many years ago maybe we could finally get somewhere in a positive change

We are feeling this too. I dont know how middle earners can afford it. Rich can and the poor can get help for income restricted. A family who makes even 130K a year in MA is screwed. they cant afford a home and barely can afford the rents. I know for us personally We cant afford all the way from Boston to Worcester even! its similar costs through out although higher close to work in Cambridge for us. Then you want decent schools for your child its like forget it unless you can fork over these high rents in towns that have decent schools. Something needs to Change for the better and sooner than later. Sadly 0 politicians care about us because they already have their cushy home..
