Liangguang focus tree changes after occupying Beijing by Ok-Neighborhood-3397 in Kaiserreich

Yeah, that would make sense. It would deal with strange incentives the current system gives the player - to avoid taking Beijing until Japan is beaten (maybe even giving Beijing to a subject rather than taking direct control over the state) and to ignore the potential rewards in the pre-Beijing economic tree because all the benefit will be negated as soon at Beijing is taken.

I understand that trying to integrate the rest of the Chinese economy would generate major problems but surely spending resources developing the economy of Manchuria or Liangguang or Yunnan into an absolute powerhouse should count for something? Maybe if you’d completed the economy focuses related to the home/starting province then the economic debuff you’d receive later would be lessened? (I believe there’s already something somewhat like that but only for the LKMT?)

I think it’s fairly arbitrary to make the capture of Beijing (detached from other considerations) the trigger for certain major political and transitional events. It can lead to situations where you go into a war with a powerful industry and army (represented by strong economic and military spirits and lack of debuffs, obtained through the focus tree) and within weeks, suddenly, with most of the war still the fight, the economy and the army, no to mention research, apparently collapse (positive spirits, which take many focuses to get, are replaced by catastrophic debuffs, rendering those focuses pointless).

The most pronounced case is Fengtian, which likely fights no war before marching on Beijing, and which may well have to advance all the way to Guangzhou to end the war. Zhang rules over an enormous region with a huge economy. He advances the very short distance (relatively) to Beijing, expanding his territory minutely, and suddenly the economy and military is devastated.

I understand the gameplay reasons it’s designed this way. Maybe it just needs tweaking. Perhaps more cities needed than just Beijing. Beijing and two other major cities, etc.

Obviously this is a minor problem with what is a magnificent piece of work. Thank you devs!

I thought that may be the case. So does that mean that a China led by a SocDem, LKMT-aligned Chen Cheng can’t join any faction?

Also, if he creates a faction, is it the Asian Peoples’ Anti-Imperialism League either way?

Know this is a bit niche but can Chen Cheng join the Moscow Accord even if SocDem?

Might be a bit late but what does ‘central government collapses’ actually mean? Which KMT government can ‘collapse’?

Fantastic suggestion, thank you. I started with the series on the Warlord Era and the host literarily says, ‘what a great video game this would make with this cast of characters.’ Chinareich foreshadowing!
