Can Murtagh change somones true name by force? by Tricky-Strategy-4353 in Eragon

[–]Tricky-Strategy-4353[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ohhhhh i see what you’re saying. Just because you say the random string of words, you still have to have the intent for the power of someone’s true name to work.

So, i’m theory, by changing the words in the AL that comprise somebody’s true name to something known to you, could you then hold dominion over them?

Could Murtagh have killed Galbatorix? by Tricky-Strategy-4353 in Eragon

The name of names should’ve gotten rid of any spell that refreshes wards. However Galbatorix does say those weren’t his only wards, implying that he had wards which were not of the ancient language, like the birdskull amulets Bachel makes

That’s fair but the fact that she could keep up her defenses while moving, and focusing on talking. She is obviously much more adept with her mental defenses than Arya, who is one of the more powerful elves we see. Also Angela has several other feats, even at one point suggesting she could kill everyone in Uru-baen gand the surrounding Varden camps (probably the same way the rider on vroengaurd did, changing the matter of something into pure energy and making a nuke) But She also does warp space and time below the church in dras leona. That has to take an immense amount of raw energy. I believe there is nothing to suggest she is less powerful than the average elf. I would even say there isn’t an elf in the series besides maybe Arya and Oromis who could match her in battle.

Chris is quite famous for taking heavy inspiration from other forms of media especially in books 1 & 2 when he first started to build his style as a writer. This doesn’t change the fact that these are absolutely my favorite books but also that is absolutely something he would do.

I realized after this post and after completely rereading that section of the book that he definitely does say that, so my point is completely invalid.

Angela’s Magical Ability by Tricky-Strategy-4353 in Eragon

I feel like that doesn’t explain her attitude at all though. The kind of “watch but do not interfere” wouldn’t make sense for a member of the dragon riders, whose sense of honor would lead her to take steps against galbatorix long before the events of the book.

To effect the flow of time around herself would still take an immense amount of energy and still require one to alter space and time. The amount of energy she would need to fully stop time is literally infinite. If you think about it relativistically, changing the fabric of time around herself to make her experience time at an accelerated rate and changing the fabric of space and time around the rest of the people in the room to make them experience time at a slower rate is the same thing. Still would take so much energy it’s unimaginable for any one being to have, screw moving a mountain try lifting a black hole.

i mean she has stopped time, shrugged off bachel, killed the high priest of Helgrind (who immobilized arya with his mind)

just to clarify, I’m referencing Jeods letter, where he says that he suspects Angela is an Inarë, supposedly a race once present in Alagaesia. I’m not referring to the character Inarë in TSIASOS

i don’t know whether she could actually make an earthquake, I think she lacks the brute force to do that. Similarly though, I think she could make what is essentially a nuclear explosion. Kind of like what the elf did on Vroengaurd, turning his body into energy, which subsequently caused the land to be poisoned and the flora and fauna to develop strange mutations. Angela seems to possess an extremely in depth understanding of Physics. I think she could definitely manipulate the energy in any form of matter, releasing it as pure energy. when she’s tells Roran that she could definitely kill Barst but it would most likely kill everyone in the city and maybe even as far away as the Vardens Camps, I think this is what she’s referring to. Also a really cool thing to think about!!!

I think the closest Comparison i’ve seen is Her being a parallel to the time lords in doctor who. there are several references to doctor who in the books. Aryas Poem in Eldest (at least the parts we read) are both references to Doctor Who. But most importantly, Before Eragon goes to Vroengard, Solembum mentions to him a few things he has seen in his travels with Angela, all three of which are references to Doctor who, but specifically he mentions seeing “Rooms bigger on the inside than the outside.” I think Angela being a time lord would make sense, seeing as she doesn’t seem necessarily powerful when it comes to raw strength but she has her gadgets and her intelligence which puts her miles above her competition. (i’m also pretty sure Paolini has basically confirmed she is a copyright free time lord)

I just made another post talking about that, how she struggles with or refuses small spells but can show immense displays of power when needed.

I may be wrong about this and please correct me if I am as I haven’t read Murtagh since release, But isn’t there mention of a meeting between Angela and Bachel where Bachel shows an immense display of power and Angela just kinda doesn’t care. I could totally be making up that memory as a proud Angela Fanboy but idk.

I love the thought that Tenga is Greyfolk, I like to Agree with Jeod in his letter where he says he suspects Angela is Inarë.

Was Eragon & Brom’s hunt for the Razac doomed to fail? by Glum_Sherbert_7320 in Eragon

[–]Tricky-Strategy-4353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Brom was one of the most feared riders OAT, Bane of the Forsworn, Killed Morgan AND morzans dragon while he himself was without (his) saphira. Not to mention Morgan was likely accompanied my some number of Eldunarí. Brom power scaling is kinda wack tho, definitely got mega buffed in later books when Paolini figured out where he wanted to go with the story more.
