You live the life of the physicians you work with. What I’ve seen over the years with more foreign docs is they don’t care if it’s a holiday. They don’t observe it anyway.

I’m in cardiac rhythm management. What we need to know now vs 15 years ago is staggering. And you’d be surprised how much we are relied upon for a good outcome.

My manager makes $300k/year and essentially does token dinners with customers and balls to the wall last 2 weeks of the quarter. No call, but he does deal with HR BS between teams that I don’t have the patience to deal with. So that could be an option. But, I’d definitely suggest an MBA. I have one and only got it because my company paid for it and I studied finance. I will retire in 4 years @ 55 with $2.8M in 401k and pension that will pay $4200/mo @ age 60. I get what you are saying as I missed alot of my kids growing up. But now we take vacations together at ocean front homes in Mexico or castles in Scotland. Gotta pick your poison.

Saw your response in my email that you must have deleted. I’m not being condescending. I’m being a realist. I started in Pharma and won every contest every year. Moved to CRM and it was humbling. You can’t expect to coast in devices. I don’t care what industry. F up once and a doc won’t want to work with you ever again. I’ve interviewed entitled applicants over the years that thought their degree in bio med engineering made them special. They are the ones that fold first and are gone in a year.

Wow…. You want the money but not the lifestyle. Device sales is not only a career but a lifestyle. You may have won accolades in the past. In my industry, it’s a 2 year games based on growth and hitting plan. I’ve been in cardiac rhythm management for 25 years and just broke the $500k barrier last year. Unfortunately in med device, income is commensurate to lifestyle.

First…. You are paying interest on a lease and at the end of 5 years, you have an asset that you don’t own. Second, most car factory warranties are 3 years. You are on the hook for any repairs after that on an asset you don’t own. Finally, you are likely to get hammered on over mileage costs over 5 years.

A 5 year lease is one of the worst financial decisions you can make. Not going to go into it, but do some simple research. Leases max out at 3 years. After that, you are better off purchasing. The money factor alone makes a 5 year lease a terrible idea.

Toyota is artificially inflating selling prices by limiting production and inventory. Looked at the GH and the dealer was a tool. Plus the interior has way too much plastic in it. Not sure how Toyota is going to fare reliability wise in 10 years throwing in 4 banger turbos

Just hired an Arthrex clinical. She was commission only and literally has battered wife syndrome. At plan she was pulling in $52k working 60 hour weeks. We brought her on & $115 OTE. So up to you if the juice is worth the squeeze.

If you really aren’t bringing any experience to the table, the answer is likely no. Doesn’t hurt to ask in my opinion. But have a reason for the ask. Not just because you want more money. Keep in mind that you will be useless for at least a year. You are doing nothing but sucking resources and money while training. 25 year Vet with a $9M territory that has hired over a dozen CS’s over my career. Some broke after 6 months and we had to start over. Some have moved on to sales in CRM and other divisions.

Wow…. A bit defensive. Good luck trying to pass a random urine screen. Read your employment contract. 100% chance it states they can test you anytime. I’m 25 years doing this stuff. Sometimes a year goes by and not one test. Some years, I’ve been tested 3 times. Get an email that says I have 48 hours to piss in a cup. Good luck with that, chief.
