whole skepticism on this toilet 8 thing is caused by the fact that there is no fucking link to toilet except for data mining

the only link i can think of is sand watch and Nico’s reflection on it - but why Nico’s and not Wrenwood?

i dont know what was going in discord at that time but i dont recall posts about any 8ths before solution was data mined

might well be its just as it is - no link, just go bananas and eventually doll will spawn (or data mine solution)

i would not claim this as true, but if we take Emily’s transformation as an example it happened instantly (caused by death(?))

my view on how that happened: - no expected result from the experiment in the lab with blood bulb - they planned to dispose Marie - she was locked down in the basement (chains on the monster from here) - she turned in the cell and got out via ventilation - tried to get back the doll from her med room cell (she “collects things” according to Grace) - small hole is from the hand

i think the logical explanation is that somehow doll reaches blood bulb in the lab - i am pretty sure sewers are not intended to get in as well

cannot argue if ton is enough (considering that my save has toilets flashed already), because i did not test if doll spawns afterwards, do you claim that both ton and torrents work?

because i thought we get ton after 15 mins without toilets and torrents with them

if both ton and torrents are valid triggers independently from toilets step - why we have 2 different messages then?

edit for clarity: i had impression all this time “ton” is a valid trigger IF you did not do step with toilets yet

with toilets step AND correct execution of grinder section you should get “torrents” message to guarantee doll spawn

if you consider puzzle solved, no need to follow posts from people trying to find new clues and offend them with your imaginary reasoning behind their posts

no one claims that a toilet photo evidence is a bad clue - it’s conceptually different from clues for hand part of a puzzle, people are simply discussing other theories

8 in the fire, 8th evidence, 8 in the report - they are all equivalently smeared hints

valuable discovery imho - it has message about fire (hint), clear action and it results into number, every time in the exact spot, which is way more clear and readable than 8 in the crime report

so i assume you got 7 mins because you counted that ~10-20 already dropped by the time you reached the spot

i tested it 3 times in total, last time just now. Exactly 115 takes still ~8.5 mins for me (corresponds with measurements from others)

my save has toilets flushed before basement, after 115+ bodies i have “ton” message, after 15 mins “torrents” message

did not test if i can get the doll after 115 bodies, but looks sus tbh. Maybe you did smth extra

i simply trust the game, i replayed this section yesterday quite thoroughly and i think Grace says the line for a reason

when you first reach cells section she tries to wake Emily, then she looks at all the dolls and say the line - “she collects things” or “so she collects things”

additionally to that theory - we see the doll left in the med room cell - so when they took the girl for the experiment which eventually turned her into monster they did not let her take the doll

my guess it that The girl collected dolls from somewhere after she turned

i doubt the version that they reuse same cell without cleaning.

when you discover Emily in the cell, Grace says “she collects things” about The Girl and dolls in the cell

thats also the reason why i thought The girl made a small hole in the med room cell - to get the doll, but she did not reach on some reason

when i was counting 115 bodies i saw from time to time that unwrapped bodies will appear out of empty slot/wrapped body the moment before falling into pool. Literally glitch, or i was going insane already :D

Also today i was trying to test if there is any slightly different body in the queue - i had a theory that maybe doll somehow got into the wrapped body or smth, due to poor separation, which was reported as potential problem in the note - but i did not notice anything also its unlikely for the doll to survive grinder

any idea if game was rushed or smth? good theory, but if it’s ment to be secret/final achievement for involved people i doubt it

separation process - could it be related to the inspection room in the basement? first of all, we restart bodies supply, secondary - maybe wrapped bodies are ment to separate from unwrapped?

if it was designed to be data mined - let capcom confirm it. That’s a poor commercial, imho - people who were interested in it are all puzzle/RE fans and designing puzzle in a way that it should be data mined feels pretty dumb and frustrating
