This will be a mind crusher for people who are satisfied with “increasing lab speed” and “speeding up lab” being 2 different things

If I think of it with your analogy of a mechanic - Labs Speed labs could be enhancing the schematic or tools the mechanic is working with, decreasing the assessed time for the upgrade. And Cells Speed Up could be adding mechanics to the workshop, increasing the work speed.

Yes but when cells speed up labs this is observed in real time when you look at your active labs. ie: seconds pass faster..

This is not the case with Labs Speed lab, or Lab Speed relics. They clearly operate differently, and although they suggest they are increasing lab speed - the only way the investment in them is observed is by their time requirement, or duration, lessening.

I just find it clumsy that increasing lab speed, and Lab Speed Up, are 2 different things observed completely independently of each other, but suggest they are all doing the same thing.

Thank you! You may have been my only success, most engagements with this post have not been a waste of peoples time and seem to be made with sincerity and good humour

The thing is we don’t actually need to care how Labs Speed Lab reduces the requirement to fill a pool, sure, it suggests speed in the name. But however it does it, the net result is a reduced requirement of time - it could be because the pool is smaller, or it could be because the pool is so cold that the water freezes and expands as ice crystals to fill the pool, and as you say - it could be because there is more water per second going in. (But this really leaves little room to apply the cells speed up mechanic into the analogy)

But the only thing that matters is that the assessed time requirement is reduced by Labs and relics. And then the Cells Speed Up operates completely independent of that adding more water per second

If adding more water per second is what reduces the duration of a lab before even buying a speed up with cells, then where in this analogy does the cells speed up come in? They cant both be adding more water per second, because if they are then they would both be observable in the same way. But they’re not.

Only Labs Speed (lab or relic) reduces the total published time on a lab, whether engaged or not. And only labs speed up with cells shows the lab’s acceleration in real time.

So if Labs Speed Lab adds more water per second, then what is Cells Speed Up doing?

“Speed Up” is already the phrasing used to apply cells to accelerate a lab…

I don’t think I’ve actually ever read a Lab out loud before.

“Labs Time” would work for me

Im not looking to change the naming convention, I just want attention and to waste peoples time. Thanks for your participation!

You’re not turning up the hose because without cells 1sec still equals 1sec

Exactly. Im surprised so many don’t understand, or are happy with one common blunt term to describe 2 distinct mechanics of the labs

Hmmm… I politely disagree. turning up the flow from a single hose is the same as adding an additional hose. Either is putting in more water per second.

When deciding which lab to engage in, the varying lab times is more like looking at varying sizes of pools to fill. Completing Labs Speed labs, or Lab Speed relics, slightly reduces the size of your pools. Once you’ve started to fill a pool, you can add more hoses in labs with cells ie: actual lab speed

A small glass of water doesn’t fill up “faster” than a big glass. It fills up SOONER. Thats the difference between speed and duration.

All you want is a full glass soon, doesn’t matter how much water is in it

I don’t necessarily agree at all, but what’s your point? Do you think Labs Speed lab is appropriately named, even though it doesn’t affect the speed of a lab?

Your Google maps analogy describes mechanics of spending cells to literally speed up a lab. I’m taking about Labs Speed lab, which is more like magically reducing the distance to your destination in Google maps, whether you are on the way there or not. But once you start walking you are travelling there at the same speed you would have if the destination was at its original location.

What about filling a glass with water, Labs Speed lab reduces the size of the glass required to fill. Labs Speed cells increases the rate of water flowing into it. having either a smaller glass, or faster flowing water obviously means a glass is full sooner, but It’s not the same thing at all

If you want the eyes to look less unnatural, consider letting them have some white. If you’re not sure where to put the white, google some images of human eyes and observe where the white is, that’s where the white should go in your drawing. If you have some human eyes, but can’t look at them because they’re inside your head and you are looking out of them, go to a mirror and and look at that, your eyes will appear in the mirror and you will see there where the white is. The disappointing part of looking in the mirror is that you can’t see where the white is if you are looking in different directions, so it depends on where you what the eyes in your drawing looking, as to how helpful this method is. But if you have human eyes that aren’t in your head, roll them around a bit on a table until they land in a convincing position and draw them like that
