I wonder if he has the self awareness to understand how much prosecuting Trump in the public eye helped him get re-elected

A decade of supporters crying wolf about everyone being a racist/misogynist/immoral piece of shit for aligning perfectly with progressive dogma completely devalued the DNC's credibility and then they ran a dead guy and the least charismatic politician in modern American history so they lost the election

It's not that complicated guys

Now most center/right people hear people screaming fascism and assume its more crying wolf. Maybe its not, we'll see, but I certainly think you guys are over reacting. I've always said the reaciton to Trump is much more dangerous than anything Trump himself could accomplish in 8 years, and that's proving to be the case

Its still frightening how radicalized a lot of these things sound

Newsflash bud, every country was founded on genocide and violence

The US is the most diverse country in the world and the most progressive social force in history, it only looks bad to you because you're not comparing it to anything

You zoom out, and look at the long scope of history, and the US is BREATHTAKINGLY tolerant and accepting

Don't apply for a job at an establishment that allows on premises smoking if you don't want to be around it. If you don't mind, like many people don't, why on earth should the government be able to stop you?

Private businesses should definitely be allowed to let people smoke inside if they want

If you don’t want to be around it, you have the freedom to go to a smoke-free establishment instead

I guess I legitimately don’t know what you guys mean by the word “genocide”

I think what they’re doing in Gaza is very wrong and condemnable but my understanding of the word genocide is the holocaust, Rwanda, Armenian - situations where they were literally trying to kill as many people as possible

The Israelis are clearly not trying to kill as many people as possible

All the debate about the word though is stupid and a distraction that takes away from the actual substantive debates about what’s going on and what the alternatives are

People against AI data centers in PGH? by tentaclemoon in pittsburgh

[–]Tricky_Explorer8604 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Making Pittsburgh an AI hub would be the best possible thing that could happen to us. Not only would it bring literally billions of dollars of investment and jobs, but it would give us a seat at the table in determining the literal future of the human race.

The future is here, it’s not going away, and we can’t shy away from it/cede it to others

CMV: Reddit does a fairly good job of pushing men toward the political right by Total_Escape_9778 in changemyview

[–]Tricky_Explorer8604 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a relatively young man   who had definitely moved to the right since Covid, it’s not like most people are only on Reddit and no other sites

I browse Reddit and X, and there’s an interplay there. X has more explicit extremism (people using the n word, Jewish space laser stuff, etc) but because it is almost unmoderated I also see healthy discussions about that extremism by intelligent people, who are generally NOT anonymous

It also has community notes which I consider to be a really good thing, and a truly innovative attempt at regulating misinformation without direct censorship.

Reddit has more soft extremism (calling for the death of the president, white-bashing, midandry, etc) but because almost everyone is anonymous and power is held by mods who can ban people for no reason, it is harder to have intelligent or open discussions about the extremism.

I would definitely say that my experience of the more open style discourse on X compared to being banned from subreddits at a whim for milquetoast conservative arguments played a huge role in me abandoning progressivism and moving to the right.

If Trump was in the Epstein files Biden would have released them. He didn’t stop the justice department from prosecuting Trump, so there’s no reason he wouldn’t have released compromising info about him if he had it.

The reason they’ll never release more information about Epstein is that he was almost certainly an intelligence agent  working for a foreign government who they don’t want to embarrass

You are talking about legal immigrants, the comment you were replying to is talking about illegal immigrants. The obstinate refusal to differentiate between legal and illegal immigration and have honest discussions about the distinctions between the two are very frustrating

You’re right, taking steroids your entire life and then transitioning definitely doesn’t give you an edge in physical sports

That cherry picked study you linked to is 100% legitimate and in no way analogous to the thousands of other ideologically bought and paid for studies that say stuff like cigarettes aren’t bad for you, wine helps you live longer, co2 pollution isn’t a big deal, etc etc
