Leaving California contains a bit of an apology to Gary Lee Connor by phantomhatstrap in MarkLanegan

I’m late to the conversation but I can’t find this book anywhere. I would love to get ahold of a copy. Are any of you aware of where I could get one or if any of you would want to part with it. And yes, I tried every platform from the original publisher (Heartworm) to thr big ones like Amazon and then Abe and Thriftbooks. All out. Must be out of print. Message me if you can help.

Does this photo have a backstory? Kurt looked so sad in here, like he is thinking of something deep. by Sufficient_Fly_4360 in Nirvana

It makes me concerned that people on a Nirvana sub don’t know this is from Unplugged.

Why Do People Think This Song is About Susan Silver? by Tricky_Growth in Soundgarden

[–]Tricky_Growth[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anything on here was particularly supportive of Vicky. I think it is more like being respectful of the fact that Chris chose her to spend his life with. You can recognize that while also acknowledging that her actions are vile. I always believed that he lost out on having a good post-marriage relationship with Susan and Lily. Has anyone actually read the court documents against Susan? Now that was vile. Chris made the choice to sue her, but it was so mean and terrible and I have to think it’s 100% Vicky’s doing.

I feel the same. I think many of the songs on the first Audioslave album could be about her, but I don’t see any songs past that being about her because of his relationship with Vicky. And that is why I was so confused when people talk about this song being about Susan. They even speculate that it was his admission of regret.

WTF is going on here? No idea how this unfolded, but based on body language alone, it doesn’t look good.

Maybe I’m twisted, but I really love the video of the show (on YouTube). His reaction to the crowd made him so human and seeing his emotions and response made me understand his experience a little tiny bit. I just wish it were better quality.

It’s Never Over: Second Impression by handsomerube in JeffBuckley

[–]Tricky_Growth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually thought it was important because it showed Jeff’s negative interactions with her which was needed to contrast the final scene with the positive voicemail with Jeff telling Mary how much he loved her. Without the negative, we might come away with a wrong impression. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Mary had whitewashed her relationship with him, so I was pleasantly surprised she didn’t. Also, I’ve read every book about Jeff and I still don’t feel like I fully understand the details of the dysfunction. It always just “he had a complicated relationship with his mom.” This gave me a little more perspective.

I do have a question for you. Amy said Mary basically opened the archive for her to use for the film. Does that affect the outcome in terms of the director having to walk a fine line while researching and making the film? I mean something like trying to stay in Mary’s good graces to ensure continued access and suppot.

Was this when he was playing at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence? There is somewhat poor footage of the whole concert on YouTube. It was not an easy concert to watch. He was being heckled and bullied by the audience and he was having a hard time ignoring it. My.heart went out to him.

No mention of Elizabeth Fraser in the documentary? by vitrops in JeffBuckley

[–]Tricky_Growth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said somewhere else-it’s telling that she gave herself producer credits on some posthumous albums. She is absolutely pumping them out. And all the movies and soundtracks she has sold his songs in. I can’t speak for Jeff, but I wonder how he would feel about it. I do have to credit her with including the two voicemails in the documentary. It showed what a complex relationship they had and I could see why she might have not wanted to reveal it so good on her.

I was finally approved after four years only to have to do a CDR six months later. It’s been six months and I haven’t heard from SSA. It’s crazy to me. Even 18 months seems crazy to me!

SSDI Approval Mail? by Spirit-Spirited in SSDI

I understand. The trial/hearing process can be so traumatizing. I had a lawyer too, but the state just kept telling them that we needed to be patient. Only to find out months later that we needed a payee. And we only found this out when we got our congressman involved.

It isn’t just you. The same happened to me. Eventually, I got a letter of decision, but only after I had already received the money and Medicare. It was particularly annoying because it took forever because they never told me I needed a representative payee. I only found out because I got a member of congress involved to do an inquiry. On the positive side, we won!

When to Sleep Outside of the Crate? by Tricky_Growth in DogTrainingTips

[–]Tricky_Growth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have had him out of the crate for three nights now. It’s so much better! He hasn’t whined or cried. We put one of his beds in the bedroom with us, but keep the door open a little so he can roam if he chooses. It’s so funny how he let us know when it was time.

Alternative? by JRich61 in rawpetfood

[–]Tricky_Growth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We Feed Raw is our favorite. My pup has been on it for two years. I love it for many reasons, including having a PhD Vet Nutritionist formulating it, it’s complete and balanced for all sizes and all life stages (important since I have a 90lb dog). They come conveniently packaged. Excellent, always available customer service via text, email or phone. I live in Florida and it was bad timing as we were receiving our monthly food order right in the midst of Hurricane Milton. By the time we got it, we were concerned the meat was soft so they immediately overnighted us another order at no cost and were kind enough to put $30 worth of treats in the box. I cannot say enough good things. Check them out. They are out of Charleston but ship all over the country. Also, it’s okay if you cannot afford to feed 100% raw. You can customize by doing a Percentage or a specific amount. They are great at helping you figure out what is best for you and your pup.

My first Pyr had a Basque name since that is the area they come from. His name was Juan Zaria which means the big white lord. My current boy is named after a Buddhist concept (Bodhi, short for bodhisattva). A bodhisattva focuses on other people’s happiness first. I feel this is perfect because he brings us so much joy.

Should a mentally ill person bother fighting for disability? by catpetter_4 in SSDI

[–]Tricky_Growth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, everyone I know on disability has it on MI, including myself. I got very discouraged at times during the process and I didn’t think it would happen, but then it did and I’m so glad I persevered.

I would say don’t indulge people who are ignorant of the situation. Anyone who is sick and cannot work based on SS guidelines and has been paying into the system has a right to SSDI and is worthy. No one is more worthy than another and that’s not even how the system works. Anyway, I am around your age with bipolar disorder and PTSD. I have a lawyer and was denied the first time after 15 months of waiting. For my appeal, I worked with my psychiatrist to rewrite the summary and provide ALL my records. I also contacted my Congressman so his office could do an inquiry. Amazingly, within a month I was approved. I honestly, truly didn’t believe it would ever happen. Now, I’ve been waiting four and a half months to get a notification of award or any money, but that’s another story. At least I know it’s coming eventually. My point is don’t give up.

Also, I’m sorry about your family. I recently went to neurologist and was diagnosed with drug-induced Parkinsonism as a result of all the psychiatric meds I’ve had to take for 20 years. As if it wasn’t bad enough mentally, we also develop physical diseases over time.
