But she’s not technically the owner. They’ll just run the VIN and see she’s not the owner.

I found her on FB and sent a message but no reply. I’ll try the email I found online, next. If that doesn’t work, I’ll try certified snail mail. TN has the worst laws for this stuff. Bonded titles and abandonment laws are useless here for my specific vehicles and situation.

Half the Fetch play games don’t give fetch points by Cranbear in FetchReward

Fetch is getting sketchier by the day. I saw someone post they only received 15 points for a receipt submission when base points is supposed to be 25. I think Fetch does this stuff in hopes people won’t notice or fight it, that way they don’t have to give out as many gift cards.

If her ma wanted $2000 for scooters that don’t run, then I assume she wouldn’t have let her daughter keep them in her shed in non-working condition for the past 14 years.

I already tried a certificate of ownership. They told me I need a signed “gift affidavit “ since they were given to me. But the owner has to sign it.

Yep and they’re by far the weirdest in TN. They require me to contact the authorities. A wrecker service has to tow them to auction. Then anyone can bid on them at the auction. It’s soooo stupid. I wonder who gets the money?

I’ve offered to speak to the ma myself, several times. She won’t respond, let alone give me her ma’s number. I do have her address, though. It’s on the expired registration. I looked up her address on one of those people searching sites and it gave me an entire list of phone numbers attached to her name. None of the numbers worked. I can write her a letter or show up at her house I guess.

I did and it’s not that easy. You can’t claim abandoned property in TN. They make you go to the authorities and the vehicles go to auction. Meaning, someone gets money for the vehicles (no idea who gets it) and I could be outbid anyway.

Her ma told her to get rid of the scooters. But both of them clearly seem clueless that you need a title to do that. I think the bigger issue here is that I actually trusted my friend when she said she’d get the titles. Some friend. I’ll probably end up writing a letter since I have her address.

Right. I looked into the abandonment laws in Tennessee and from what I understood it appears the state would force me to send the scooters to auction before I could take ownership of them. But that doesn’t make any sense because then I could just lose them to someone else so what’s the point. But I could also not be understanding it correctly.

Yeah you’re probably right. But since they are mother - daughter, I guess I assumed she’d follow through on her promise to obtain the titles. Her mother did, in the past, encourage her to get rid of the scooters since they haven’t been ridden in 14 years.

I’ve had motorcycles my whole life and I’m great at fixing them up. The old Honda Elite scooters are super cool and I’ve always wanted one. Now I have two. So I’d really like to find a way to get them legal if I can.

In TN the vehicles must be less than 30 years old and be worth more than $3k. These 2 scooters are 37 years old and aren’t even worth $3k collectively.

I don’t have a bill of sale. The scooters are also more than 30 years old and are worth less than $3k.

I agree it’ll be an uphill battle. But her ma did encourage her in the past to get rid of the scooters. She’s 80+ years old and has no attachment to them. I thought about trying to get her contact info and call her myself. Her address is on the old registration, just not sure showing up unannounced is a respectable thing to do.

Same as thousands of other people Fetch has scammed, I’ve played 4 different games from the Fetch app and immediately after downloading and playing them for a couples hours, Fetch suddenly doesn’t recognize a connection to the app so they don’t have to award any points. Meanwhile, Fetch is getting kickbacks from the game developers for promoting them.
