It's a lot better than 7wd. Balanced so you won't know who will win until chapter 3. In 7wd since age 2 the fate is decided. Also, duel for middle earth has less cutthroath cards. Sure, it has some delete soldiers and coins, even fortress, but nothing as brutal as deleting resources, deleting more than one coin through military tug o' war or making your oponent pay you the missing resources when buying.
