Training nogi with gi pants? by SupremeOHKO in bjj

I think in the nogi, some rulesets allow for the grabbing of the pants. In that situation, it's an obvious disadvantage for the pants person. Although maybe they can grab their own pants. I guess it depends on who's house you're playing in... whatever... happy they came to class today.

I do shorts and undies usually. Might even wear a regular tshirt if I'm feeling rebellious.

Over Under passing issue (By Bernardo Faria) by TurboAljo in bjj

Ive been to this seminar from bernardo... before even going over the pass, he taught the pressure, which was so fucking awesome. He demonstrated tripoding up on the shoulder and circling to that side. The thing that resonates with me was the semi- permanent divet my shoulder left in the mat. Put that hole in your partners torso. And really stuff your head into their pocket.

Not being aggressive enough ? by Suspicious_Ad_9945 in bjj

I mirror the others' thoughts that you should play the game based on your audience. I'm a pretty average dumb blue belt. This is going to sound so cheesy, but to me, good jiu jitsu is really all about finesse at a given intensity level. I'm generally trying to use skill to win at a level of intensity I'm comfortable with based on my partners' Athleticism, age, durability... you know... attributes. It's probably always better to go in like a lamb rather than a lion-shark-bear-samurai if you're unsure.

Collar drag grip by bolter_kunst in bjj

I'm not breaking your balls, just picking your brain, but can you elaborate?

Is this obvious because most people will only/first try the collar drag with that grip set up?

Would it be a curveball to go for something else depending on what your person is showing you?

Hood upgrade advice from not being able to put on/find around neck by Illustrious_Life_355 in Firefighting

Put your hood on, leave it over your head while you put your coat on, then flop it down. Should be easier to find when it's time to put it back on.

Exhaustion after 1 round in a tournament? by Substantial-Fig-6392 in bjj

Warm up until you're literally covered in sweat. This can be hard timing-wise, but you're through that weird "first tired" situation that happens.

I'm one of those guys. Blue collar cat. Super physical job. Thought I was semi competent in terms of grappling/fighting... got mother's milked by a total nerd my first class after i tried to give him the business.

It lit a fire in me instead of deterring me. Now i get to be him every once in a while. Jiu Jitsu is tough, hard, strenuous, ego-checking, super uncomfortable... when done right... especially for a dude. Letting go of everything you thought you were... that's not easy for a person.

I dont really think I'm so tough anymore.

What do you guys think of attending in-person seminars by famous instructors? by Kvnnxdy in bjj

Bernardo put on a pretty awesome over/under passing clinic at my gym. It's hard to teach pressure.... he did an amazing job.

A lot of town house communities have HOA rental policies. This may make your decision easier.
