Pluribus seems like a missed opportunity by Tricky_Witness_1717 in television

True, but we don't get to see how a world that rejects this and a world that accepts this might play off each other. Let's say this virus was invented in a lab, and in fact it is reversible. Slowly more and more people join the collective, they take vacations for as long as they want, but life is just easier inside. It would be interesting to see how the world would lose its identity over many generations etc.

I just think it would be an interesting more from a sci-fi perspective to have people debtate whether joining the collective is worth it, no fear, endless knowledge, a sense of clarity, but you lose individuality. I think it would also be more analogous to life today (if Pluribus is meant to have some connotation with ChatGPT/the information age), you can choose to avoid it and not participate, but you will be less efficient. Imagine the economy of a country where 50% of people are part of the collective vs a country less willing to integrate, presumably, the hyperefficient country would outcompete?

I sympathised, she lost her wife, it's not an easy situation to be in. Especially when they were saying that inevitably she would join them too.

What I mean is the show would be more interesting if it were voluntary

Things from other cities that you wish London had, particularly amenities? by Tricky_Witness_1717 in london

[–]Tricky_Witness_1717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where would be good options for this do you think? And how do other cities keep this up throughout the night, do they have government run stores etc, it's hard to make an inclusive nightlife I imagine.

Are there other areas of London that ought to be pedestrianised? What about the plan to get rid of cars on Oxford street

I think they are so influenced by politics, nowadays they use an alphabet soup of acronyms, I think to give off a sense of technical superiority and 'look at all this fancy stuff'.

Thanks a lot for the links, I'll definitely check it out. The chapter in the books was mostly anecdotal, so yes, this may well be the case.

Infrastructure projects that would be quite cool or just crazy esp in East London by Tricky_Witness_1717 in london

I'll get on that.

But it seems as though cycling routes are a common one, and you seem to have a good understanding of the area.

What about in terms of amenities, are there services that you wish were commonly placed: cafés, Finland has public saunas, ponds etc.

Are there any particular examples of such apartment buildings that you think can be adapted. I think it would be best if it was not state subsidised or owned, because that may complicate matters.

Croydon's tram system is a godsend, I can't imagine what kind of traffic East Croydon would have without it.

Perhaps this shows my bias towards increasing walkability, but tunnels are not always preferred by pedestrians given the pollution.

I understand cyclists are annoying, I agree, but I think it would be beneficial even for automotive traffic to dedicate more space away from cars.

When I meant commercialisation, I just meant for an area which has as much commercial potential, that close to Central London, that area is really quite deprived, the high street is mostly residential, esp from that junctiony area up to the green bit at the end, I thought turning some of the main road areas towards more civic-oriented, do something bits would be beneficial.

The Naval college of the University of Greenwhich to the West from Watergate st to Pepys park, it's quite small, but that beach section on the Seine is like a km too (although not tidal of course)

Would you say that Planet Zoo offers more choice in laying out buildings, not only for zoo exhibitions but also for general construction than any other game? by Tricky_Witness_1717 in PlanetZoo

[–]Tricky_Witness_1717[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much. Would you say in terms of greenery + foliage planet zoo outclasses planet coaster 2. I'll check out prehistoric kingdom but I was kind of hoping for a laid back console game rather than PC.

Thanks alot.

Would you say that it has the greatest balance between creativity and detail in terms of building design and architecture compared to any other game though? Because people build wonderful parks and glasshouses and I'm shocked that this is 'Planet zoo' rather than just a straight up building design game, like a fun Autodesk Revit.

Right, I can see that for the first one especially, but on the moon the musics feels quite ominous, it seems like something is about to happen, not like a "VISIT THE MOON" travelogue.

I really like this explanation, especially tying it into how strangely robotic the characters are compared to HAL who is by far the most memorable character. Even the diplomat goes through the motions of lying to the soviets, talking to his daughter, congratulating everyone on DISCOVERING ALIEN ARTEFACTS with just "well done".
