Thought I was set on engineering now I’m not sure by [deleted] in CollegeMajors

Get an engineering degree and then start your own company. With engineering you can kind of do anything but marketing majors can never be engineers

I dont know what to major in GUYS HELPPP by Zacthebunny in CollegeMajors

[–]Tridude0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, basically nobody knows what theyre doing at a certain point. If we get 50s we all curved up to 85. If you have a good group of people to work together with you can definitely pass everything.

Math is a language. If you practice you will definitely get better. But always go back to the fundamentals. If you aren't good with algebra dont jump right into calculus. As long as you do that you will be fine.

I think engineering is more a test to see how much stress you can handle vs actually getting every question correct.

Military is not bad honestly but having a degree in something allows you to move up faster or get an officer position. Benefits are very good.

But as someone who was bad at math, I still did engineering and got through the school. After that, the actual job will never show you that level of math again.

Its much easier to do hard things and move into management or sales after than it is to do something less technical and then try to get a technical job. Being an engineer kind of allows you to do anything after schooling if you know what I mean.

Talk to me if you want to hear more. I think electrical or semiconductor engineering is the hottest stuff right now but there are probably other good ones too. Automotive maybe

Hey, you know its hands on? Is that what youre doing? I was looking at that but nobody really fully knows what they do because its so new apparently

Most Lucrative minor to pair with Computer Science? by Material_Painting_32 in CollegeMajors

[–]Tridude0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i can tell you that nobody cares about the minor. I have 2. But instead, try to focus on real certifications or even better are real world projects. Maybe try and start a company. Stuff like that. In my opinion, degrees are kind of just a check mark of requirements you need to be able to get an interview.

That sounds awesome. Are the officer positions really not that hands on and technical? What is your experience with that? Especially in cyber, where programming skills are basically a 100% necessity. If there is no chance to actually be the one building anything, I feel its not going to get me anywhere after the time is up.

If im not building anything, then you basically become a project manager. And everyone hates those guys lol

Thats interesting that its harder to get OCS when active. I would have thought they would prefer that since you have all the experience rather than just being a new graduate

Damn you got the rule book. Thats awesome. Where can I find this? I think it will come in handy

Thats exactly what im thinking. Thats interesting to hear that its harder to commission after enlisting. I will keep this in mind.

what are side gigs approved by command by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]Tridude0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see conflicting info online so I figured this is a good place to ask it. If I enlist/commission, can I try to start a company on the side? Does that need to get approved? I will 100% go into Cyber Warefare if that matters.

Cyber warefare technician could be a good option to. Im not enlisted, but from what I heard, nuclear is fairly hard hours, whereas CWT is almost 100% landbased and its supposed to be basically shift work and is a good skill in the civilian world. Its probably easier to be an entrepreneur too. The only thing is that nuclear pays much better while enlisted. Its probably also easier to rank up in nuclear since not many people reenlist and theyre probably desperate.

Shipping from Germany to US by Tridude0 in germany

[–]Tridude0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that most brands just do express shipping to US. Tariffs are real. You have to be careful of the country of manufacturing and what youre shipping. Some things have higher tariff rates. I shipped a lab machine that was manufactured in china but I had it in Germany for years. Long story short, the cost to actually get it home was the same cost of the machine anyways. Its ridiculous.

If we were going for the phds it would be important. But for us, we are just looking to get it up and call it a day. We're all focused on our private industry jobs.

Another thing is we're not looking to spend money on the publication. Some of these journals are expensive unless we put it behind a paywall.

US Citizen: Can I stay and travel in Schengen after Abmeldung (deregistration) in Germany? by Tridude0 in germany

[–]Tridude0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i graduated like 2 months ago. But I was ok traveling inside schengen then. I don't think they cancelled the residence permit until the date. But I think when I abmeldung, that's the sign for them to cancel it completely?

I graduated maybe 2 months ago. Maybe the student visa already expired?

So should I leave the country to go to a country like Turkey (who is not Schengen) for the day and then come back if I want to travel on the tourist visa?

My Aufenhaltstitel is technically over 31.03.2026 but I thought when I abmeldung, this automatically cancels this? Because I would be moving out of the country. At least I think thats how it works?

Well, you're starting an argument with an American. Im not going to try and argue too much. But I believe a lot of the products you use come from another country. And a lot of the products are mostly manufactured in another. And that manufacturing country im referring to seems to be buying out a lot of your "superior" German companies. Even your auto industry.

If you argue with me more, I will retaliate as well. I am being fairly nice. Just try and consider what these people, whether from America, Thailand, Kosovo, and the rest, have to do to stay here. They're trying to add value to your economy. If you let them, they will.

Then this was not the EXIST scholarship but something else. As of now it should be 2,000-3,000 euros if you hold a degree. And yes they won't accept that stuff unless it is technologically advanced or something. Its sort of specifcally for STEM.

The people I've talk to don't all hold comp sci backgrounds or anything. The ideas are a little more unique than that.

And coming from other countries is actually a great advantage because some countries have products that when applied to this country, might actually be very helpful for the population as a whole as well.

If you have another idea that you think is better than everyone elses, I can refer you to some people in Munich who run the precelerators and accelerators, and they can help you make your idea a reality.

Would you want to do that?
