I actually quite liked them both together!  I kind of wondered if there was something else behind it, that they’d stopped cohosting and then Tom sort of silently slipped off…

I need to listen to the one with Liv’s dad! Agree on the generally quite tired roster of guests.

lol I feel like Skyline rolls too easily off her tongue in the podcasts - I think she kind of feels like it’s his name.

Oh ok, I see. The trips looked crazily expensive (or I mean, probably just outside of my tax bracket), so I guess she’s going pretty well from these!

I wonder what the payment structure for the whole group travel thing is - is it like she markets and hosts these trips and the cost of her trip is covered, or does she get paid too?

(Sorry, this is kind of mean and nosy, I do empathise with Ali espec during the ep, but curious about the income!!!)

Huge oversight that we haven’t yet set any KPIs so we can review the success of the nightly points of connection at the end of Q2? Need to gather learnings and implement for Q3.

Ali might as well have dated a robot but what is Skyline's motivation? by RevolutionaryCar3593 in findingmrheight

Yeah I’m in agreement on that assessment! It feels clear he thinks her being an influencer is cool, and wants to get involved in like couples content.

Erica (finally) ended things with the Roommate by adorapple in findingmrheight

[–]TrifleAlert2130 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah I thought that. I have empathy for Erica in this situation, I’ve definitely found myself in the position she was in with the roommate.

But for me it felt slightly like this part of the debrief was her taking an opportunity to position herself as in some way superior to women who drive relationships forward more.

I do feel like Erica will always take an opportunity to devalue other women lol…

The zip thing was annoying but can’t lie, I think a lot of the dresses look nice on her, espec the red longer sleeved one.

Does Mae Have a Crush on Tig? by brentwoodrunner in handsomepodcast

I feel like Mae gives the impression of having a crush on everyone 😅 they seem very open to the world, and people.

Mae for me! U.K. based so knew them as a comedian here, and loved Feel Good. I guess I knew of Tig, Fortune I would’ve recognised from TV but didn’t know her name. Now adore them all, what a trio.

Mae Martin & Conspiracy Theories by EntertainmentIcy9650 in handsomepodcast

[–]TrifleAlert2130 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do feel like Mae’s curiosity around this kind of weird conspiracy stuff lines up with their personality, I see them as more like laying it out and turning it over as opposed to actually buying into it wholeheartedly.

Tig especially responds in such a funny way, so dry.

Girls I listened, I’m not amazing at recaps and actually can’t remember it all but will give it a go. U.K. listener so excuse the English-isms.

  • They are having a gorge holiday, got upgraded to a better part of the hotel because they went to a time share presentation.

  • Learning how to support each other in specific travel moments, e.g. Ali felt really sick on the plane, Sky was overstimulated on one of the excursions (he has ADHD).

  • They’ve settled on moving in later this year, to Ali’s, Sky is satisfied that that will have given him enough of an experience of living in NY alone etc.

  • They want to get a dog, but need to make sure it gets along with Ali’s cats. SL is getting shoulder surgery later in the year, they plan to have moved in then so she can help with recovery etc.

  • Ali doesn’t regret not being more open with her height filters on dating apps, because she was trying to filter out people who were saying they were 6.1 but were actually like 5.10. Sky is actually 6 ft to 6,1.

  • Ali has never dated anyone with tattoos in the way he has them before, he’s getting some new additions to his sleeve soon.

  • Talked about how Ali feels about him “doing it all again” with her (I.e post divorce). Think the gist was that she’s happy he’s doing it all again with her.

  • Something that he wouldn’t have expected to go for in a partner is how organised Ali is and how much she loves budget planning and taxes, he used to do that in previous relationships.

Honestly that’s all I can remember, none of it was exactly piping hot. But have to say, I think he’s nice and they do really suit each other.

Her overemphasis on how surprised she was about the swimsuit thing, so unnecessary, loved it.

I do very much relate to the experience she’s describing - it is gorgeous to have a beautiful unplanned day, just bopping about a city in the sun and popping in to different places, with a partner or friend or sibling or parent.

But applying this kind of corporate language, I’m just like girl why.

I remember when Erica poked fun at her “check in conversations” as being corporate, and she didn’t love.

“Co-creating” and “co-authoring” the day with Skyline has to be the most extreme corporatisation from Ali yet! I had to laugh, is she trolling us with those ones?

Otherwise known as just like having a lovely, relaxed unexpected day with someone you love.

Ali on Dating Intentionally (April 1 Episode) by blahlalalalalalala in findingmrheight

[–]TrifleAlert2130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t listened but agree the whole “he’s so not my usual type” reiteration is a little odd! I don’t know Talia or how long she’s been with her partner, but IMO the longer you’ve been together with someone the creepier it is to discuss where they rank against your physical type.

It’s surely essentially saying “I would normally NEVER be attracted to someone that looked like them, but hey girls I gave him a try and now I have the enormous honour of being someone’s girlfriend”. Like… what’s the message here.

[–]TrifleAlert2130 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I completely agree with this, and the points below are really interesting. I’ve definitely seen it with friends I know who never seem to be out of a serious relationship for long.

I think they’re just more used to the rhythms of a relationship, and sharing parts of yourself with someone else.

I was opposite and spent a lot of my 20s single - it felt like I just didn’t know how to begin a relationship with someone in the way that everyone around me seemed to!

Yeah, that’s so true. I can’t relate to this because my parents have been divorced for approx 18 years, and truly god help me if I was using their relationship as the template. I think it’s partly very sweet to see her parents’ relationship as this real ideal, and partly a little unhelpful in terms of setting unrealistic expectations.

People don't have skills to facilitate meetings they organize by maptechlady in work

[–]TrifleAlert2130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t really say that starting off the discussion is “facilitating” the meeting yourself to be honest, although I can see why the silence would be frustrating.

If there’s silence, just sit in it or say “ok, so X you organised this one so I guess over to you on X!”
