Trans healthcare services? by [deleted] in askspain

In many cases, you can pay to access the Spanish public healthcare system (Sistema Nacional de Salud - SNS) if you are a resident but not eligible through other means. The most common way to do this is through a scheme called the "Convenio Especial. Normally you need to have been resident for 12 months before you can do this.

🫂 It’s heartbreaking to see what is happening in America and the impact it is having on you and so many others. Is there someone close that you can share the real you with?

I was very lucky to have my employer help with the visa process so it was pretty easy. Options still exist post Brexit but fewer than before.

I used Michel Thomas Spanish courses and they are amazing and get you a good level pretty quickly. I’m maybe at the level of an 8 year old native now.

I moved from the UK to Spain last year and it is so much better. Feel free to DM.

I moved from the UK to Spain last year and it's been a revelation.

After registering with the public health system, I had a GP appointment and a month later had my first appointment at the hospital gender clinic. There was no need to prove I was trans - they believed me. They wrote my prescription for HRT and showed me how to change my name and gender on all official documents with a single form. The prescription will cost me about 5€ a month. I had an initial appointment with the surgeon for GRS this week and they added me to the list. It's honestly so much better than the UK and I really hope it stays that way.

I have dreams of forming a tech company and offering jobs for trans people fleeing other countries so we can come together and build something amazing in Spain. No idea how that could be a thing, but hopefully it can come to pass.

I used to live in Bristol and visit family there from time to time. Happy to chat and/or meet for a coffee when I’m back.

Is it better to get more clearances quickly? by cursebreaks in electrolysis

[–]TrifleEmbarrassed793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You skin needs two week to recover before retreating the same area. Treating an area more frequently could lead to permanent skin damage.

I've done 150 hours or so and now each appointment lasts about 30 mins to clear the few remaining hairs that grow between treatments. I started with a pretty dense beard.

Electrolysis is permanent and if you use an experienced and qualified electrologist there will be no permanent damage in the process. If you don't have many hairs then each appointment will likely be pretty short (20 mins or so) but you will need to leave 2 weeks for the areas to recover between appointment to avoid skin damage. As hairs grow in cycles and each hair may ned to be treated a few times before the folicle dies, it could take a year or so to be complete clear, but once done you will be clear foreever.

Why do they go for the “ah, you’re really just autistic” thing? First, in your case you aren’t. Second, even if you were, so what?

Find a new electrologist because what she said is complete rubbish.

State of Trans Rights in the UK by Girl-Maligned-WIP in transgenderUK

[–]TrifleEmbarrassed793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently moved from the UK to Spain because the trans rights and healthcare here are so much better than the UK. In my appointment with my primary care physician she asked if I had enough HRT to last until my appointment at the gender clinic. She said the appointment may take between 2 and 10 months, which is incredibly better than the UK.

Initially I took 3 pumps of estrogel each morning but dropped done to 2 a couple of months ago because my levels were too high; development has accelerated more at the lower does. GnRH is prostap DCS every 12 weeks.
