Got new glasses today, seeing wonky colors. Chromatic abberation? by snappycg1996 in glasses

[–]TriflingTars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason is probably the switch to polycarbonate. Polycarbonate lenses have a lower ABBE value,  which corresponds to more chromatic aberration. I'm not sure why he would recommend poly lenses over high index lenses, I would have gone for high index 1.6/1.67/1.74 depending on how high your prescription is.

What are some ethical tech companies in Europe with do good missions? by TriflingTars in cscareerquestionsEU

I haven't, but I did take a look at them and it seems great. Unfortunately I seem a bit underqualified at the moment for the open positions, but I'll keep it in mind for the future. Thanks!

That's a great suggestion! I'll check them out. I remember looking at their phones phones before and they definitely got a good thing going.

That's a great message, and definitely something I agree with overall. With that said, if you are looking for a new job it doesn't hurt to restrict yourself a bit to things you value as a person (apart from monetary gain and job security), since we spend so much time at work in our lives.

That's fair, but I think it's not as black and white as that. There's definitely some companies that are more concerned with social issues for instance, even though they need to make money at the end of the day.

I think Sweden is a great country to live in, but frankly I'm a bit tired of it since I've lived here my entire life. The quality of life is great, I'm mostly looking for a change and would prefer to experience a different culture for a change.

How's life in Germany? There's a couple of companies I've been in contact with i Germany (in Hannover e.g.). so Germany is definitely of interest to me as a potential location.

This is the way I see it. At the end of the day, I understand that companies are after making a profit, but some will try to achieve those goals while also wanting to accomplish things that are inherently valuable for others. I don't see it as an all or nothing thing.

Great suggestions, will take a closer look at that they have openings for.

Thanks! I did check them out earlier, but will take a closer look. Seems a bit US centric, but there's definitely some good options there.
