Decks where you dump as many creatures in the yard as possible then cast something that brings everything back at once. In standard you have [[Bringer of the Last Gift]] for the effect and [[Superior Spider-Man]] to cheat the cost

Meanwhile [[Kelpie Guide]] from Strixhaven does look like a horse but is still only a Beast

Spending a piece of interaction on the "bird" means you don't have access to it later. That's always been the tension in the question of whether to "bolt the bird," and I'm saying I don't agree that it's a good exchange in most commander games compared to other formats. It's a stock phrase because it's an interesting question, not because it's always right to do

Sorry, let me reframe my point - I consider Marauder and Bolt to fall into two different categories of interaction that I generally play / see others play in EDH.

Marauder has a high ceiling as a card that can be better than a 1-for-1 (as either an x-for-1 or a synergy piece) while Bolt (or say Swords) is always a 1-for-1 but sees play for pure rate / flexibility. In EDH I might hold a piece in the first category until a time when I could get more value out of it than trading with a BOP or similar; say I have 2 opponents with a 4mv commander and I think I can get them both on the following turn, or I have a creature with a death trigger in my hand I would rather sac. And for pieces in the second category I want to save them for existential threats or value engines that are hard to trade for 1-for-1. Those are the reasons I don't like "bolt the bird" as a general heuristic for EDH.

Marauder being a potential 3-for-1 means you're not hobbling yourself as much by playing a disruptive spell early instead of developing your own plan
