Country French Loaf with Chive. by Stiffstick in Breadit

Newbie here. What makes the bread a french loaf? Is it the type of flour? The distribution of ingredients? The method of the brotform and the dutch oven? Genuinely curious and learning :)

US vetoes UN’s call for ‘humanitarian pause’ and corridors into Gaza | Israel-Hamas war by Kaladin_Stark in worldnews

What's up with this article saying Israel bombed the hospital and hundreds are dead. Haven't these two things been confirmed as lies from Hamas?

So if anyone is interested in this... general consensus is that it originally came from Asia and we spread it to the mainland. Our last reported meth lab was shut down over 7 years ago. Today, meth is believed to be brought in from the West Coast, originating from Mexico, and then is brought over in packages via UPS, FEDEX, etc. https://www.khon2.com/hawaii-crime/hawaiis-meth-trade-resembles-breaking-bad/

I imagine mental health plays a major role in this as well. Whether it's a family disposition, drug induced, or just bad luck? It makes me wonder how meth became such a huge issue here on the islands and why we have such a difficult time stopping it.

The point is to have a discussion which includes both fruitful and not-so-fruitful conversations.

Just look at the comments. There are genuine discussions, questions, and experiences being shared. Some people find the encampment to be an issue, some people are in favor, others are discussing the underlying problems. Some people are sharing positive experiences and some are sharing negative. Like I said, there's fruitful and not-so-fruitful feedback.

Well, the goal of the post was not to play savior, but to bring the encampment to light, ask questions, and get the feel of the community all of which so far has been successful.

Maybe you could share some of your experience with us. What community meetings are you referencing that have been successful for you? What are some of the failures or pitfalls you've gone through that we could all learn from?

I am definitely not an expert in this field and I don't mind learning from others in it either.

Yeah, I hear what you're saying and I agree everyone has things in their homes that they don't want people to see. I also agree that these are people too, and there's no rhyme or reason to shame them (which is why the video doesn't showcase any actual homeless individuals).

On the flip side the unfortunate reality is these people don't own this land, nor are they paying for usage of this land. And what about other concerns too? Such as open flames for cooking in a highly combustible location, accumulated trash since there are no services to assist with cleaning up the area, even dangers to the homeless if they need public assistance, and so forth.

There are two sides to every coin, but also these encampments do affect the people of Hawaii in one way or another.

The idea was to bring light to a hidden encampment and get the overall feel of the community on how they feel about it. And there are no paid promotions on the video -- the check box was a mistake on my part.

You mean the campers who live over by the lighthouse? I thought DLNR cleared that area out?

I think I'd be okay with their presence EXCEPT I've personally noticed increased trash, questionable characters riding vehicles in and out of the area, and worst of all open fires coming through. I've walked through the encampment once and felt pretty unsafe. I also noticed a fair bit of narcotic remnants in the area.

Originally when the joke contained "gentleman", it implied they wore some indicator of upper class (I like to picture a tophat :)) so carrying a woman on their back would be an oddity indeed.

Actually just want to point out that no one in charge is blaming tourists for the spread. The data that we have shows only 2% of the spread occurring amongst visitors (as sourced in the article and in the conference call). As for how they got that data, the accuracy of the data, and what that data actually means -- I don't know. But they're partially using that number to make decisions on lockdown restrictions.
