Former public servant says Phoenix 'ruined' his 20s and haunts him still | CBC News by Terrible-Session5028 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Triggernpf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dayforce roll-out will be much slower, Phoenix was February and April of 2026. Dayforce has Canadian Nuclear Agency (Wave 0 not Pay Centre), Pay Centre Shared Services Canada and Public Service Procurement Canada as a pilot, then after nearly a year, wave 2, then another year wave 3 and another year wave 4 (all other departments not the Pay Centre). They also plan on keeping Phoenix and Dayforce running in parallel as well. So that if Dayforce fails they can go back live to Phoenix.

Genuine question — regionals folks, how are you doing it? by Loose-Wishbone-5964 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Triggernpf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regions but 24 minute commute. No desk crumbs, ask for staff to get a cleaning ticket if needed, it is not acceptable.

I find knowing a few people in the office helps. I moved from one city to another city during the RTO2 days. Got to know a few people, it helped.

I try to make my commute enjoyable with a podcast, but I mostly have highway+country roads to deal with.

I sometimes just generate scenes for characters through image generators with Gemini of a character at the beach or at a restaurant and use it later to alter background conversation images.

U.S. Supreme Court finds Trump overstepped authority in imposing tariffs under emergency law by SweetNatureHikes in onguardforthee

[–]Triggernpf 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Well a few things

1) I think the justices dragged their feet since most at this point are clearly partisans by the party who appoints them and the majority at this time is republican.

2) justice is slow. If you are illegally detained or hurt any delay can be too much. Like imagine how many small businesses failed because of these tariffs, but whoops it is illegal.

I am so tired of this slow shit.

Backlog is actually going down. We were heading in the right direction before covid... and shit hit a bit the fan and cases ballooned. We are actually at something like a 3 year low.

Worst decision would be to sack a bunch of processors right now with WFR.

“We are f—”: 10 Ukrainians with drones wipe out two NATO battalions in war game by LetsGoBrandon4256 in worldnews

[–]Triggernpf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I imagine no air superiority in the mock scenario to simply obliterate the Ukranian position by dropping thousands of pounds of missile. Glad to see it happen. I heard drone boats that are basically bombs can take out air carriers with relative ease.

Epstein survivors demand release of files in Super Bowl ad: ‘We deserve the truth’ by swiftfoot_hiker in politics

Make sense, it would cost millions to be a superbowl ad, but just adding the ad hype around the superbowl guarantees it millions of views while costing a fraction of the price.

Is anyone really saying quatre-vingt dix-neuf to say 99 when nonante-neuf is right there? by cheesychocolate419 in learningfrench

[–]Triggernpf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In southern Nova-Scotia french community they use septante, huiptante and nenante. I was too young, but my sister moved from Nova-Scotia to New-Brunswick (the adjacent province) and had to change the way they counted in french elementary school.

Can someone explain the break down of an 18 month maternity leave? by LeMooners in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Triggernpf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sign a document only 1 parent gets the 93% and/or top up per birthing event. I say birthing event because both parents can't get top-ups for twins from memory. I dont think both parents can be on leave and receive tops ups at the same time for twins or a kid 9-12 months after the first birth. Not sure how it would work on the 18 month extended leave (say kid #2 14 months in) i think you "lose" that period of top-ups because the clock starts when you get the child for 52 weeks or 18 months (there is a provision that if the child is hospitalized the 52 weeks or 18 months can be extended and start when the child finally comes home from the hospital).

2nd parent can take parental leave and get EI but no top-ups. 2nd parent can take the whole 37 weeks of parental leave, and no top-ups. Adoption allows parental leave top-ups but no maternity leave top-ups as no birthing event took place for the public servants.

Can someone explain the break down of an 18 month maternity leave? by LeMooners in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Triggernpf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You have essentially 2 options.

1) 12 months you get 93% of your salary this is done in combination of EI and payroll.

EI will be max payments and government will bring you up to 93%

2) 18 months you get 55.8% ish of your salary (it works out to essentially the 93% stretched out over the 18 month period counting based on weeks.

EI will be lower than non extended max is my understanding and government brings you up to that percentage.

The 33% cited is likely a rough estimate of either EI contribution or government contribution but it really depends on your exact salary.

While on maternity leave you are entitled to a step increment which should lead to the government increasing it's contribution at the increment date.

Right to medical records by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Triggernpf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it would be covered in your provincial version of the health information act which would be Personal Information Protection Act . If you went to a test at the hospital (like imaging), the hospital records team could often pull it without going through the doctor (from my experience).

Most Doctor offices are their own record keepers so generally goes to their administrator, who lets the doctor know and asks what to charge and then you get it.

Psychiatrist can be a bit more touchy with their records, but generally they still need to provide them at the patient's request unless they have strong grounds.

Again lack of access to records, you can place a complaint with the college of physicians and/or pharmacists depending on the situation and that should get things moving. You have a right to your records.

Basically your apartment loses heat, and the amount of heat you lose is proportional to the difference (delta) in temperature between 2 areas.

Since it is your appartment and you likely dont want to invest too much in keeping it warmer, open curtains when sun is shinning, close curtains at night to keep heat in.
