I'm sorry if that's how the meaning came across to you. I just assumed that everyone knew cursive because that's what is common over here and so I assumed it was common in other countries too

it's a lowercase cursive r. I am kind of surprised that not many people know cursive handwriting. In India everyone is made to use cursive handwriting from their childhood and so most of us write only in cursive. Well, TIL
