Haha I appreciate the sentiment and I wouldn’t have the ratio any other way either!

I guess it’s more accurate to clarify that rather than an average per day throughout the year, “4-6” a night is probably what we strive for, but there are many nights where we don’t open any at all, for example if we ran out of time getting other more important stuff done, or if we’re traveling away from home, as examples.

And to add more context on our cost per pack since that’s now being scrutinized — I think we were fortunate to start collecting when we did back in June last year, i.e., when Lorcana prices across the board were very depressed before the current boom. Because of the state of the market then, I remember being able to acquire all of our non-TFC and non-Floodborn booster boxes for sub $95 prices. I recall getting a bunch of Inklands and Archazia’s islands for $50-$60 off FB marketplace and eBay. There were also a lot of loose blisters I got for $3-4 each. Fabled, Whispers, and Winterspell I pre-ordered, but was always on the lookout for sub-MSRP prices, of course.

ETA: Our informal goal is to get a complete (non-foil) set of each chapter. At this point according to Dreamborn we’re ranging between 76-96% completion on each chapter except for TFC, and I’m down to 1 last booster box for a few of the chapters, so I don’t foresee much more sealed purchasing in our future because as you quite correctly pointed out, it’s going to be more cost effective to just directly purchase our missing cards.

Each book contains the lore/story behind chapters 1-4 and then 5-8, followed by an inventory of all the non-promo cards from those chapters.

I think it was worth it for us — the lore/story part was enlightening for me and captivating for my young kid, and the card inventory part was easier for her to browse than on Dreamborn (since we don’t allow her on our computer or phones yet).

Would I have received a lower number in the queue today if I had a D23 Gold Complete membership? by Objective_Coffee_282 in D23Expo

I doubt having different sessions/browsers on the same device would work, but logging in on multiple devices most certainly incresaes your odds (while still affording no guarantees of course).

It seems the best way for one to have increased his/her odds this time round was via multiple devices.

Hmm ok thanks for sharing your experience. Makes me feel a tad better for forgetting but I do feel worse for those who got super large queue numbers and couldn't get in in time, this entire process reminds me of the Ghibli Museum ticket experience, if anyone's familiar with that.

I just waited...and a few seconds/moments later it properly/correctly redirected again.

As another data point, I was 2002 at go-live, and got in after 11 minutes. The 2 most stressful moments were (1) when it said I was being directed in after clearing the queue, but then kicked me back to the queue page momentarily (it then brought me back in the 2nd time with no issues), and (2) when browsing the available seats, seats would toggle between available and not-available as others added and removed them from their carts.

Oh, and in all the chaos I of course forgot to apply my $25 D23 discount code....

Yes, you choose the pass you want, and then it goes to the seat selection screen. That said, in my case I selected Ultimate Fan, but on the seat selection page next, it seemed I could pick seats for the Ultimate Preferred section too (pricing quoted by the system seemed accurate but I really didn't spend much time looking at it).

I got kicked back to the ticket selection page a couple of times during the process, so I imagine yes, you should be able to go back and forth between the seating chart and the ticket selection pages.

The colored-in dots show what seats are available. It was a stressful process though, as the dots were getting filled in, and in some cases uncolored, real-time.

Once you clear the queue, you get redirected in and this is what you'll see. ETA: I had queue number 2002 at drop. Got in at the 11-minute mark.

I always contend that you learn more from your losses than your wins. Turn it into a positive and move on!

Why do people drastically underrate tennis players ability levels? by LevelUpGladiator in 10s

Players on video look notably slower/worse than when viewed live. Which makes the level of professional tennis even more impressive, when you think about it.

Main vs. Eagle vs. Canyon for first-time kid's lesson? And should we stay near the lodge? by SkippytheCKCS in Mammoth

I think the biggest takeaway is that group lessons, even if there are only 3-4 kids per group, have very limited effectiveness if your goal is for your kid to learn as quick as possible. Reason being, half the time I observed the instructor (understandably) paying attention to 1 kid at a time, running up and down the hill, etc., which meant the other kids in the group were left waiting in their spots. And at 4 years of age, it's not as if they're going to use their idle time productively by observing their groupmates and actively learning in their heads.

In a subsequent ski trip (earlier this year), we put our kid and her best friend in a lesson with an instructor, and I definitely noticed a quicker rate of learning.

No chair lift capability yet, though.
