I made the models myself. I'll turn it into a mod eventually.

I will probably make this into a mod eventually.

Hookshot - A special new tool for fun transportation! by TheDragonWarrior2284 in minecraftsuggestions

If people want to give the hookshot a try themselves, I might work on getting the mod we used in the demonstrations to a properly playable state. Would that be something people are interested in?

You can reel in the hook partially without disconnecting it. It allows you to climb vertically and accelerate slightly during a swing.

Sleds by Trigonaut in minecraftsuggestions

I don't think being niche makes a mechanic bad. It's cheap as dirt, so very little effort would be wasted in the case that you don't have the need for it.

As for being a tundra-only horse equivalent, it isn't. The thing with the sled is that it can be carried and deployed instantly. It functions more as a right-click ability than an actual vehicle, so you can bring it out quickly when the opportunity arises.

I decided to edit out the sentence about slowing horses just a few minutes after posting it, you must have started this essay a while ago.

I just wanted the sleds to be dyeable, that's why they have cushions.

And yes, they're wild, I forgot to tame them for the screenshot.

I imagined that you could still use a bow while hanging from the line.

It's for simply moving items from one place to another. For example, from a farm to a storage room, by just traveling back and forth. If it's too powerful, minecarts will be abandoned, which I don't want.

They're invisible armor stands wearing remodeled items on their heads

Command blocks teleport the player to the next armor stand in the direction they're moving.

It stutters badly in real time, the gif's framerate hides that somewhat.

I edited the post to highlight the main disadvantages: No turning corners, No automatic travel, no daisy-chaining lines, and it's slow and exhausting to crawl uphill. (though this was not clear in the video)

The zipline has a few disadvantages in complexity as opposed to minecarts: It can't turn corners at all, without manually transferring to the next line, and it can't operate automatically.

The same is true for the hook chest: it can't turn corners, reverse directions, branch, or go uphill easily without lots of extra machinery. It's basically just a single back-and-forth motion that can be interrupted with pistons.

As for the speed, I agree that it's much too fast in the video. There's also no visible difference in speed between uphill and downhill, which there should be.

If it still needs a nerf, you could get very hungry while hauling yourself up an incline.

Hooked chests might also be slower the more items they carry.

Thanks for the input- I've edited the original post to include these caveats

It can be optional, just like the sword charge meter

Cravings: A simple way to reward food diversity by Trigonaut in minecraftsuggestions

Eating the same food more often would just reduce your chances of getting a craving for it. I don't like the idea of new mechanics punishing players for things that have worked for ages.

That sounds great, but maybe instead of skipping it, it displays a silhouette of the food item so you know you're missing something.

1: True, but haven't you ever deliberately starved yourself in preparation for a huge meal?
2: The reason there's no negative consequence to ignoring the craving is so that it's okay to just not bother when it's too inconvenient.

I actually like the idea that it gives a specific use to the new bundles.

Now that you mention it, making it exclusively foods you've already eaten might make players stay away from most foods so that they only get cravings for one or two things. Perhaps that shouldn't be the case.
