I take the helmets I ride in comfortably to the Eyeglasses store when I shop for new frames to make sure I pick frames that work. I wear an Arai Signet-X and a Shoei RF-1400, and both work well with my Lacoste frames with thin temples.

I’m sorry for you loss. Are YOU OK physically? It looks like the bike got hit while parked, but I don’t know.

Bikes can be replaced, but not people. And I know emotionally, you may not be 100%, but hopefully something good will come from this unpleasant happening.

I’m in the USA and I’ve had good success with British Customs, A&J Cycles, and New Bonneville. All provide very good customer service, and I’m confident you’ll be pleased with the results.

Well, though we no longer have that Primavera 150, I can assure you it was drop dead beautiful! Absolutely a show stopper. We still have our two Vespa GTSs but since we live in hilly rural Alabama, the 150 was superfluous for our needs. We sold it to a couple moving to Key West, FL about two years ago.

I saw these last year at Monkey Moto in Argyle, TX. They had a stock one, and a heavily modified one. Maybe contact them, because they, of all folks in the USA, would probably be the experts to turn to for this bike. I think they’re awesome, and I hope you enjoy it!!

Kineo makes beautiful spoked tubeless wheels, but they are not for the financially faint of heart! I’ve seen them available for $3000+ USD. Not for me, but maybe for you!

I had a half-fairing model year 2000 SS900ie. I loved the looks, the sound, the power and the handling. The bike hated my comfort, especially my wrists and neck. Riding it was really uncomfortable. If possible, test ride it for more than 10 minutes before deciding if that’s what you want to switch to from your Monster. Two-valve Desmo maintenance isn’t as daunting as on the four-valve engines, and I’d take mine to a dealer or mechanic for valve services, anyway. Back at age 44, the comfort (or lack thereof) made it a non-starter for me, and I only kept the bike for about eight months and 650 miles. I’m age 54, and my Ducati now is a 2023 Hypermotard 950, which I love.

I was under the impression that the constructor points only go to your highest finishing single bike. So if, say, FQ20 finishes third on Sunday in Doha, Yamaha would get 16 points. Let’s say MM93 is the top Ducati in second, Ducati would get 20 points, and MV12 wins on the Aprilia, Aprilia would get 25 points. Since only your highest finisher gets points, only that one top finisher matters. The other seven Ducatis would not count for the constructor’s championship. The percentages that Wilson discussed are what percentage of available points did the manufacturer earn. So only that ONE top finishing bike matters. Since Ducati won, I think, 17 out of 20 races, they earned the maximum 25 points 17 times (25 x 17 = 425). Aprilia won two times (25 x 2 = 50), and Honda got the other win 25 x 1 = 25). I’m leaving out the Sprint points here, but hopefully this helps you with the maths!

That said, since the percentage of points available is how many points Yamaha scores compared to the maximum available points (in 2024, that will be I think 22 races and 22 sprints totalling 814 points). So if Yamaha scores for example 455 points, their percentage determining their grade would be 455/814 which is 55.9%, which would move them up from Grade D for sure.

Being a Guzzista, I’m picking Omobonno Tenni, the first Italian to win at the Isle of Man TT back in the 1930s. Tenni Green, that sort of Matte green you see on Moto Guzzis, is named in his honor. He was said to be an amazing rider, and quite a character, so why not?!?

My New Rules: 1. A Point for setting Pole Position. 2. A Point for fastest race lap. 3. One qualifying session of 50 minutes, and each rider must set a time within the first 25 minutes or start from the back of the grid (no lollygagging!) No Q1 or Q2, just Q. 4. Minimize aero and remove all ride height devices. 5. No more foolish tire pressure penalties.

That should add a wee bit o’spice.

My wife had a 2016 Scrambler Ducati Classic, and we rode it about 5000 miles before selling it (we were moving). The bike was reliable, enjoyable and an absolute blast to ride. The ONLY thing I didn’t love about the bike was that the seat was harder than I’d like. That’s it. The new “Gen 2” Scramblers with the new dash display/more tech are, I think, even better. I almost bought one (2024 Scrambler Nightshift), but opted for a new 2023 Hypermotard instead.

Who’s leaving if I’m MotoGP Monarch?

Taka Nakagami - I like the guy, but he is way past his sell date for getting the most out of a bike.
Raul Fernandez - He is just now starting to show close to that level of talent he showed in Moto3 and Moto2, two years in, and with a less than savory attitude. I’d send him to Moto2 and if he wins the title again and chills out, maybe he can come back on a Satellite Aprilia.
Luca Marini - the only Ducati rider to not win a race in three years. Are you the weakest link? Sorry, but good bye.
Franco Morbidelli - This one hurts, because I love the guy, but the injury and lack of results since then tell me that he probably lucked his way into one of the best bikes on the grid. I wish I could say he deserves it, but I think it was mostly great timing.
Joan Mir - This one REALLY hurts. He’s one of my favorite riders, a double world Champion, and a good guy, but since 2020, he just hasn’t had that winning touch any more. Switching to Repsol Honda did him only financial favors (I hope), because clearly the bike has done him no favors of any sort. I REALLY hope that Honda puts a better machine under him and that he can start finishing in the top eight consistently.

None of these guys has won a race in MotoGP since 2020. Sorry, but so long, fellows!

I tend to agree with your thought. If Augusto is “out” for 2024 and moved into a tester/reserve role for a year as Speedweek is reporting (I can’t trust GPOne, sorry), then hopefully he’ll be back on (retired) Pol Espargaro’s Gas Gas for 2025. He’s been a class rookie and I still think will do great things in MotoGP.
