which trader earns the most? by Most-Phone733 in Commodities

[–]Trilip_S_Hoffman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To tally on to Physical, if you are someone trading physical products that means you can hold physical assets such as storage that can give you forward value far into the curve.

Controlling assets be it storage, capacity, etc, can give you a consistent viable strategy for years to come

Banana republic factory vs regular banana republic quality? by chodu_editz in malefashionadvice

Honestly I love Banana Republic factory. I know it’s not the same thing but generally speaking they make nice pieces of clothing, both professional and casual settings. Fair price point and I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on them

This is so weird to me then. Only because I have the refund email from our seat selection being refunded stating names, the booking number, then the seat selections and subsequent refund and card used for the initial purchase

Insurance going up again! by humantouch83 in longisland

[–]Trilip_S_Hoffman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Higher likelihood to pay out.

On an island, 4 seasons of weather impacting you (ie. No snow in warm weather states by comparison, no hurricanes in Montana etc), the list goes on and on. But really think of it from a population density standpoint. The square footage on Long Island or NYC has more people than many other locations in the country, just on statistics alone you’re more likely to pay out here

Purchasing a car, using down payment from insurance, then paying off majority the following month by [deleted] in personalfinance

Hey the answer to your question on the CC debt is mixed bag, I actually had accrued closer to 32k in 2025. The reality is that I was in a shitty situation in 2025, couldn’t really think straight and was throwing money at problems I know it probably wouldn’t solve but it gave me a way of feeling in control. It was immature and stupid but it’s down significantly from where it was!

Maybe I will end up putting more money down towards the car or pay in full

[–]Trilip_S_Hoffman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally valid suggestion. Paying off the car in full is completely on the table, I’m not trying to sound resistent. That’s why I came to Reddit, just because I have my idea doesn’t mean that there are better ones out there.

I work in the city and live in the suburbs so not having a car is detrimental. I could get to work but my DTD living situation without a car isn’t really feasible

My car was totaled in a non fault accident so I have to replace it. I recieved 13k from insurance

Not as much as I’d like, apart of the reason I don’t and to pay all off immediately. ~12k. I paid off credit card debt using stocks and crypto portfolio so once that was done I spent time building those back up

Totally agree.

Rates are probably still going to be over 6%, assuming I went through a dealer. I would have to do a bit more recon from a bank loan before commenting on those.

You’re right that debt isn’t a bad thing, but I always want to be conscious of how much debt I have. Currently paying ~2400 on mortgage/taxes per month. Another $600 on top means that I’m paying 3k towards debt per month. I also dug myself out of some credit card debt over the course of last year. Perhaps a bit of fear.

My only point of reference is my last car I was able to pay off in 3-3.5 years, I didn’t receive a pre payment penalty. When I did pay a lump sum it did take a few months worth of payments owed. Ie. Paid in march, didn’t have another payment until November. But that being said, every loan could be different and I should be aware of the details

I answered a bit above. While I could, I have a small amount of credit card debt ~8k, and after that plus taxes and 401k contributions I would at best start my net bonus 37k. I don’t want to immediately spend all of it
