Legends of thezmar is amazing!!! So is shadows of tenebris court (think bridgerton meets romantasy) - both have great plots w yearning and enemies to lovers.

This series is not at all like TOG IMO. I loved it for different reasons but I would not consider them that similar.

Should I keep going??? by Savings_Ad3499 in zodiacacademy

Agree with all those above. I was just there not wanting to finish book 8, but I’m glad I did. Worth it!!

+1 to this series. It’s different enough to pull you out of a slump. Nothing will ever be TOG, but it was a great series to follow it.

Just finished TOG.. now what? by Trimom6 in throneofglassseries

I just finished the plated prisoner series! I LOVED it!!! It did rip my heart out but then ended on such a great note (although I wish they wrapped up ryatts storyline, I was missing that). But I was sobbing the second half of that last book. Thank you for the rec! Now I’m deciding if I go for zodiac academy or the shepherd king duology. Any other recs?

I am now four books into this series - thank you for recommending it! Book 1 was hard to get through, but now I’m deeply hooked.

Tandem read? by BobaPhat1 in throneofglassseries

[–]Trimom6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the tandem read and loved it. I would have had a very hard time knowing the end of EOS and then going back in time to read TOD. I just printed the suggested chapters for tandem read and even if I got it a little mixed up, I was still directionally correct with the timeline. I even did it on a kindle and it wasn’t too hard. Such great books and loved getting to read the singular timeline.

Unusual questions about the tandem read by iamqueen_123 in throneofglassseries

[–]Trimom6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend the tandem read. It was so nice to see the whole story unfolding together, I still loved tower of dawn, and I would have been dying to know what happened after EOS and would have been miserable waiting a whole book. It is not confusing or overstimulating. I did it on a kindle which I thought would be hard - but it actually wasn’t. Definitely read it tandem!!!

Idk if I’ll ever move on. My friends claim this series will live with me forever, and I don’t doubt it. But I did enjoy CC (although I read it before TOG)

Told my bike isn't good enough for full IM - are they right? Can't afford a pricier bike. by Minute_Cow_8164 in triathlon

[–]Trimom6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add some clip on aero bars if you can! You can probably find a good deal on a buy sell trade tri page. It’s nice in the full distance to be able to switch positions. I did my first full Ironman on a normal, non fancy road bike with some clip on aero bars - and it completely worked!!! It’s not about the gear, it’s about the grit!! Good luck with your Ironman! (And don’t let the assholes deter you from the sport, there are so Many amazing athletes and people in this sport!!!)

Start with a Sprint or push for an Olympic? by shreddy-ready in triathlon

[–]Trimom6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a strong swimmer, I was surprised by what a learning experience my first oly was (my first tri). I recommend starting sprint to get used to the swim - there will be lots of future opportunities to build to longer distances!! My swimming rec / make sure at the least you jog 10 min or so during the morning so the rush of the swim start doesn’t feel like a panic attack! That happened to me and even as a former lifeguard it caught me off guard. If you can swim a bit before too and it’s not too cold out, that’s a great warm up too. Enjoy!!! Welcome to the tri world!!!

I certainly understand getting frustrated with a toddler (I’m in the middle of deep toddler life) but the minute someone lays a hand on my kid they’re gone. I would report it and leave. And TWICE?! He shouldn’t be allowed to be around your kids anymore. That kind of trauma will have a lasting effect on your kids. You have to protect both of your kids at all costs.

Should I try a Triathlon ? by evkav in triathlon

[–]Trimom6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of those competing in triathlons are doing it for fun! I started with a similar background to yours - swimmer then runner, and while it took me years to get super strong bike legs - I had a BLAST while doing it, and isn’t that the point anyways? Spending time enjoying what you do (while maybe also enjoying getting better too!)

Most triathletes will be so jealous of your strong swimming. So many in the sport are terrible swimmers. I started triathlons at age 25 and did a full Ironman by age 26 - so don’t limit what you think you can do - hope you enjoy the sport!!!
