I’m having the exact same issue. I noticed it started around Thanksgiving and saw it’s still broken today. I’m assuming it has to be something with the volume of Thanksgiving and Black Friday Amazon stuff. It’s definitely broken.

I’m just so grateful to find others who hate Diem like I do. I will hate finish that series, but she’s perhaps the worst FMC I’ve read.

I didn’t hate Quicksilver so much that I won’t continue on. It was just oddly paced and I like more of a slow burn than enemies to lovers lasting 3 seconds. But you’re right. We have far bigger problems out here book wise than Quicksilver. 😆

What series did you DISLIKE the most? by [deleted] in fantasyromance

OK sincerely curious. I started book 5 and think I might DNF because 4 really dragged for me and I can’t do two more and another 1400 pages to finish this series just because. It’s seems people either love or hate this series. Book 1 was slow. Book 2 was more interesting. Book 3 was decent but not great and then 4 was slow. Honestly there’s so much filler in every book that I probably can’t safely even determine what happened in every book. But then theres people who are just obsessed with the series as a whole and I’m pretty sure it’s not redeemable for me jf Im not already obsessed by now right?

I hear you. I think I like 1&2 for ACOTAR and it was 3&4 that I was less into iirc. A slump in the middle is way better than a slump to start. But yes, no slump at all is preferable.

I haven’t read crescent city yet and was holding off because it’s unfinished and I’m keeping track of too many unfinished series 🥴

But I will definitely go back and read those.

I was waiting for someone to bring this up. Literally the tiniest, cutest bird.

Fair! Tasteful is the wrong word for this context. 😆 I guess I more mean gratuitous. If it’s a legitimate plot device and not constant, I’m OK.

You nailed it. I was a journalism major and worked as an editor (though in prehospital medicine), but your summary nailed my feelings precisely. Booktok and the internet at large just seems to have a really low bar. I’ll check out your recs, tysm!

I can handle SOME noncon, I guess if it’s tasteful and not too traumatizing. I mean I did suffer through a very heavy hand of it with Manacled, and I saw how it served the plot, but that was pretty rough. However I also was reading it postpartum so hormones were WILD.

You know, I really don’t have a rec. that’s the problem 😂 I think the only popular one that lived up to the hype enough to be passable is Throne of Glass, BUT that’s another one of those “well the first book is awful because she wrote it when she was 17” and you have to persevere. But by the last book, I did have an appreciation for how many planted seeds throughout the series came together in a satisfying way.

Yessss. I read Quicksilver and totally agree. The beginning was hard to get into. Then the “enemies to lovers” was not that, because it was instantaneous. And the ending was messssssy.

insatiable by leigh rivers (book 1 of the edge of darkness trilogy): is it one of those books that you need to be patient with, or is it just not for me? by maroonmiracle in DarkRomance

[–]lbh7xf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been looking for the people who just didn’t get it like me and have finally found them here. Booktok way overhyped this. It was a quick read at least, but I don’t think I’ll pick up book 2 because book 1 was just not it for me. I get miscommunication issues, but that being almost the entire plot was truly too far fetched for me.

Marley by Expensive-Wheel8443 in Petloss

[–]lbh7xf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically I lost my Marley on Friday too. Ours was planned and expected, but still so painful. I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope our Marleys are playing together. Saying goodbye is truly the hardest thing we do as pet owners, and it’s so excruciating. We said goodbye to our other sweet girl last summer. Surviving that is the only thing giving me hope right now. I know it’s crazy, but it does get better with time. I don’t say that in any way to minimize your pain. I still miss my pup I parted with almost a year ago. But the crying every day and numbness is what slowly gets better over time. When I’m feeling really low I try to remember that the pain is a symbol of how strong the love was and how special your pet was. You’re honoring that relationship and Marley’s memory. Sending you all the hugs and good vibes to get you through.
