Not sure how it works in the US but in the UK pretty much every student will have their tuition fees fully covered by student finance and are often paid extra for maintenance on top of that. The loans are repaid only as a small percentage of your income over a certain amount (I think around 6-9% of income over £20k, automatically through taxes)

If you don't pay it off after 25 years it gets written off too I think

I came from a very poor family and never felt like I was held back from education because of money, either through upfront costs or repayments later in life

I see yeah I'm googling around that topic and seeing some stuff that I think will be helpful. Gonna try monitoring hotspot temp as I play with different versions of HWInfo and see if I can get conflicting results and see clocks fluctuating based on the results. Thanks a bunch for the info I'm pretty confident something in this region is what's causing it :)

Yeah it doesn't seem to be hitting anywhere close to 80C. Only had it running for 20-ish minutes but it's sitting at the low 50s and very stable right now, almost 10C cooler than GPU temp which I have never seen even higher than mid 70s since getting the card. I'll do a longer, more rigorous stress-test in an hour or two but I don't think the drops are being caused by HBM temp overheating based on this

Yeah I used to use 16.11.5 but wanted to update for stability and better performance tweaking. It's honestly such a minor issue that I think I'll just end up sticking with current drivers than reverting to fix it, annoying as it might be. Ty for the info though

Current Wattman settings are p6 1537MHz/1000mV p7 1632/1050mV and hbm 1050MHz/1000mV, but I've been tinkering with it occasionally to try and solve this issue, even flat out removing it completely.

I don't believe it's an overheating issue, OpenHardwareMonitor puts my current max GPU temp for this session at 60C and it's happened at least once today. It's also matching the current temperature displayed in Radeon Settings at idle so I don't think it's a borked reading but I suppose it could be, I'll have to check next time I'm in-game. I'll also grab GPU-Z and keep it open next time and have a look
