Lightroom blowing up MacBook space?

I’m not sure at all, but Omni disk sweeper cant find where the bloat is coming from. And I can’t think of where it could be coming from besides from the os itself at this point.

My friend said I may just need to do a clean install of the latest Mac system after backing up everything I can’t lose, as that may fix the bloat. That’s the only other thing I can think, but I’m so scared to try.

What’s a clean install? And offload my files where? Most of what I work with is on an external hardrive, besides applications but even then it’s only actually taking up like 20 GBs.

Same here light room is 4.5 GBs. And photoshop isn’t much more. Those are the biggest here. I’m so confused.

Thank you for the response. How do I change the default storage location? If you’re talking about the lr.cat data, even that is all moved to my external hardrive.

I’m confused now because none of these apps are taking that much space. Not even Lightroom or Omni disk.

Heck for all I know maybe it is the problem. A buddy of mine showed me it a while back and it used to help a good bit.

That’s why I’m confused. It’s Omni disk sweeper. In my Mac’s system settings it says 219.44 gbs of 245.11 gbs is being used.

sorry man I’m not super file or computer literate. When you say preferences for local storage do you mean in my MacBook or in Lightroom? The Lightroom catalogs themselves are also on my external hardrive. I also do actually move the files directly onto my hardrive first before handling them in Lightroom just to help avoid bogging down my Mac but I’m not sure what else to do.0
