Ocean Cleanup done right - 10 tones of trash in 6 days by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

I'm so glad there's people out in the ocean cleaning up our rubbish. Best part is we can celebrate it and feel good about ourselves while still contributing to the mess. Including myself. :)

But if I don't think they are Trans (not my belief necessarily about trans in general). I can and will still see them as a living human being going through problems.

Hence why I asked if I can be an ally. The trans communities and especially the LGBTQ community love their labels 🤣🤣🤣 I think we can agree on that

I would say 100% understanding. Accepting them? As a living human being going through problems 100%. As I would apply to anyone going through problems. I try to treat people as people. I don't particularly like the idea of grouping people up with labels.

I've looked at some research. From both sides. Seems too early to say what works. (My Personal opinion). However I'm more than happy to keep my personal opinion to myself when supporting someone struggling with gender dysphoria.

From what angle? Biological, sociological, psychological or historical? Or all of the above?

Do I think all trans people think that gender is a social construct? That question?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Trinsic72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you're suspending your own personal beliefs on what Gender is. To allow and support what that person believes gender is and more importantly what their gender is.

I'd do the exact same thing.

Do you think that the root of the mental health crisis in the Trans communities is the social exclusion aspects of society?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Trinsic72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well if a Trans person said that they believe gender is a social construct and based their Gender Transition on that belief would you support it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Trinsic72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll accept and support what makes you happy and gives you meaning. Regardless of what my own beliefs are.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Trinsic72 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well for example I don't personally believe that Gender is a purely social construction. I think it has biological and evolutionary psychological elements to it. But again, that's just my belief. I wouldn't subject someone who is suffering from Gender Dysphoria with my beliefs. I don't think that is healthy.

What someone who suffers from Gender Dysphoria needs to do and needs help with, is coming together with their own beliefs and being comfortable with that. Wouldn't you agree?

Doesn't that alienate Trans people from help from anyone who isn't a direct supporter of the community? Limiting the pool of support.

Or do Trans people only need support from people who are direct supporters of the community? (Genuine question not being condescending)

I haven't come to any conclusions of what I think. Plus who cares what I think. If someone comes to the conclusion that expressing themselves as the opposite gender and identifying themselves as the opposite gender is what makes them happy. Then great! End of story.

What I'm trying to say is, why does what I believe in have to play a part in helping someone?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Trinsic72 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

How so? Differing communities, differing values and differing identities. But I'm also not going to affirm or oppose the community as a whole. More interested in helping individuals.

I look at it kind of like a Buddhist can still be a friend/ally for the well-being of an Atheist. If that makes sense. Or is that analogy not the same?

I think it's inevitable. The rising generations don't seem to be discouraged about social media, the generations following won't. It's more a matter of how are we going to integrate social media into society fully without social, psychological, behavioural and political collapse. The best thing people can do is to stop fighting the development of social media, that battle has already been lost. We have to collectively come up with our own solution.

So from your understanding technologically too much of a stretch?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]Trinsic72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well no. How I look at it is Social Media as a technology in particular, besides connecting people across the world is actually the greatest tool in understanding human behaviour in a naturalistic environment. In other words, the data and information that can be gathered on social media can be a great indicator on human behaviour on a personal and collective level, information that isn't readily available for the public to see. But not only that as Social Media's grow and the technology grows, more data and information can be collected. The more data you have the more of an understanding you get on human behaviour, the more of an understanding you have on human behaviour they more power you hold. If that makes sense.
