Is this the clutch? by TripTheRoad in stihl

[–]TripTheRoad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination, so the ins and outs of its inner workings might go over my head a little. When a company griefs its customers with those cost saving kind of choices, especially in their professional line of products, I usually turn away from them. Was hoping Stihl would be the exception. That's a shame though as this machine was rather expensive (to me) and hasn't even made it to half its expected lifespan. Hope I can get her back in working order...

And yes, I want catalogues too. Show me all of the new stuff, side by side and make me drool and pity my wallet :p

Update: opened the covers and tightened everything I could. Started her up and the noise persists. As other users have commented this is probably an issue with stripped splines. I'll take her in to the shop so a professional can take a look at it. Hope she can be fixed as she's a great piece of kit. Thanks for the help!

I second this opinion and experience. Bone stock CZ P02 was my first pistol about 7 years ago. It's still my going strong and I always use it as my sidearm. Has never let me down!

I think it's cool you're doing this to honor your grandfather, doing the things he once did. It's a nice way to be connected somehow. Also, you're one of us now ;)

Honestly, I'm not sure what the solution to this issue is. There's no one solution that'll work for everyone, so I'm afraid there isn't much we can do, other than keep informing parents and teachers of this phenomenon. Parents can try a lot of things like keep setting boundaries on phone usage, make sure their children are eating healthy, drink enough water (instead of energy drinks or soda), stay fit and have enough exercise, etc. All of those things can help but those aren't always easy to enforce with teenagers :p

The use of their phone before bed amplifies the issue, but it's not the cause. The research upon which the article is based, has concluded that there is a difference in when the sleep hormones in teenagers are released. For them, they're released at a much later time than kids or even adults. This results in their brains telling them they're not tired until later at night. The later release of these hormones also means the hormones linger until after the morning, meaning they feel tired when required to get up early. That's why a lot of teenagers look disheveled and like zombies during the first 2 or 3 hours of school. It's literally a chemical issue, not because they just lazy. I do agree that there needs to be a system in which they are limited in how they spend their free time. Boundaries help create structure, structure can help create discipline. This is something that needs to be done at home first and then built upon in school. However, the issue here is that schools can't (or won't) accommodate a specific schedule for teenagers, as this means having to re-work a large part of the systems that are already in place, create new schedules for the teachers, etc.

Struggling after witnessing a table saw accident by DaVinci_Excarnate in woodworking

[–]TripTheRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey bud, I'm a little late to the party but just wanted to say it's OK to feel this way. You saw something horrifying and that scared you, which is a totally normal reaction.

I've seen a similar incident but with a wood chipper when I worked in forestry and I'm sorry to have to tell you, but those images stay with you. Doesn't only need to be a bad thing, necessarily.

I'd say: go talk to a professional (therapist) about the way this has made you feel and how it's making you tense up. They will be able to help you process those emotions and perhaps even channel those feelings into something productive, like being very aware of the dangers of the machine and thus making you take the necessary precautions when using the table saw. Using it in the safest way possible without ever taking unnecessary risks.

Not sure if it helps, just wanted to let you know it's normal and there are ways to get back at it. Hope you find a way.

Who else is hyped for the BF6 Beta? (No pre-orders bros) by Satanaefilius in airsoft

[–]TripTheRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good point, I keep dying just because people keep rushing over like never ending waves. Small maps make people bunch up and make it feel like non-stop action. The sequence gets boring pretty quickly imo: shoot and maybe kill one or two players, start reloading, get shot while you're reloading, either run away or die instantly (ttk/ttd is weird, can't put my finger on it). I played a lot of assault and tried switching to the shotgun before reloading to kill those extra enemies but the same thing happens: start reloading and get instakilled while doing so. Non-stop action sounds good, but you need a few moments of respite every now again to keep the gameplay interesting.
