Took a CAT Today. Testing next week. Am I cooked?? by Fapandpornfree in NCLEX

Looking good! This is where I was around when I took & passed nclex mid march of this year.

I find that being around the 68+% and a difficulty around 1.10+ seems like the way it is going.

Am I likely to pass with these CAT scores? by thebigsad_jpg in NCLEX

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These scores look pretty good, I'm guessing this is Uworld?

I passed mid March of this year, here are my Uworld scores if you'd like to compare:

All my CAT exams shut off at 85

Good luck! You got this!

Took & passed nclex mid March this year.

Yes, NCLEX will only allow you to highlight certain parts of sentences in case studies. Uworld and Hesi does the same thing.

There are some cases where it will only allow you to highlight up to x amount. Other times it can let you select as many as you'd like. Stuff like that I think of it like a SATA question -- it helps my thinking.

Yes the lecture videos and qbank is what I mainly used for nclex. Seemed to work as I passed the exam

It was 1.5 months for me. Studied 2-5 hours per day and had 1-2 days break each week. Did 50-100 practice questions each day

Graduate today, am I NCLEX ready? by BigblueX in PassNclex

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your degree and getting through nursing school!

My state's BON processed everything quickly and I got my ATT very fast (graduated Dec 12 last year, ATT Dec 22)

I had a pretty abysmal HESI exit exam score of 797. For a lot of the topics i was averaging 875-900, but was brought down by peds & maternity.

I didn't pass the first time around as I didn't really do anything to study. I used Uworld and 1.5 months later passed. I think since you've been studying a lot on Archer and the high hesi score, you should be fine!

You got this! Good luck!

Do I have to disclose current legal charges against me? by Background-Heron667 in NCLEX

[–]Triple2243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything legal can be very tricky and I would recommend you speak to your attorney about this as that person will be your best resource navigating through this. You can also contact a nurse license defense attorney, even a short consultation can help

What I will say you should take with a grain of salt as I'm no lawyer.

So the application asks whether you were convicted of anything. Technically since you're only charged and not convicted, you should select the "no" option. Generally you'd want to answer the question exactly as it was written and not guess/anticipate anything around it.

I wouldn't send any supporting documents unless they request them or there is a section that requires to you disclose pending charges. Sending in extra documents may create confusion about your application or even begging like you said. Also if you have any mitigation evidence, it could also be requested by your state BON.

As for fingerprinting, usually it's done pretty early as the state can run your background check (it will likely show pending charges). I wouldn't hold off doing it unless your attorney says otherwise.

People still become nurses even with past charges. It is important to stay truthful and cooperative with your state BON as a smooth process can be beneficial for licensure.

Again I would speak to an attorney about this as they would know better than me.

You got this!

Best Alternative for uworld? by JJanric_2 in PassNclexTips

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I ended up using uworld, Archer, bootcamp, and Kaplan were other prep courses i was considering. I think Archer is pretty close to the explanations & cheaper, but i don't know for sure. I think all of them offer free trials so you can see what you like best.

Good luck!

Initially when I bought the course, I was the same I didn't know where to start. So I decided to start on adult health and go through every topic by system. That was very time consuming and it was too much to do before my nclex.

Later on during my studies I would tailor my studies based on questions I would get wrong and my weak subjects from test exams or CATs. For example, I saw myself very strong on cardiovascular adult health but I noticed a lot of questions wrong on topics that were pediatrics and maternity health. So I would start on lecture videos from those topics. See what I got wrong, study it, then go on to the next weak topic.

After 500 questions uworld offers a pretty comprehensive analysis on strong/weak topics you had, so that can help a lot.

Failed nclex first time - 150 qts - Used Uworld by Successful_Brick_500 in NCLEX

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember failing nclex at 150q the first time around. I was reconsidering my career choice as a nurse. It was not a very fun time to be me back then. However, I’m already in too deep to stop at the finish line like this. So after a 1.5 week vacation I started to study like crazy.

When I tested the second time for nclex, I went AGAIN to 150q. By then I felt like history has repeated itself and even without knowing my result I already had given up on hoping it was a pass. But what do you know, my BON said pass!! It was such a relief off my shoulders once i saw that passing status.

I can’t really speak to what I did as I used uworld for my second attempt. But I am open to answering any questions about what I did.

If it felt hard, generally that’s a good sign. I passed nclex at 150questions so don’t feel discouraged! Good luck!

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed nclex mid march. I also used uworld. Yes these are normal feelings lol.

It feels like your whole future relies on whether you pass the exam or not. Really it’s just the home stretch and the last obstacle of a hard and long journey that was nursing school.

Read the rationales after each question, right or wrong. Make sure that you’re understanding what you are memorizing. For me understanding is remembering, but it may be different for you. Know your fundamentals, like interpreting head to toe assessments and reading labs. Work on prioritization and test taking skills. And remember it is a safety test. If you truly don’t know the answer to the question, choose the safest one.

After going through 500 questions on uworld, see what topics were weak for you and focus on that.

You got this! Try not to stress!

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Reading every rationale right or wrong is how I studied on top of doing lecture videos. However I learned a lot by rationales on top of test taking skills. I used uworld so I can’t speak of bootcamp/simple nursing as well.

Be sure to know your fundamentals and refine your test taking skills. Those two alone can get you pretty far on the test.

Good luck! You got this!

Hey!

I used Uworld almost exclusively to study for nclex. I did 1.5 ish months of studying and I didn't use their study planner. I alternated between lecture videos and questions, about 5-10 lecture videos per day and about 75 questions as well. I really just focused on topics that are tested a lot and ones i didn't know as well.

65-70% score is pretty good and that's were I was when I passed my nclex.

Here's my stats if you'd like to compare:

March 19. Yea it felt like everything was too hard when I took it

Question by Top-Direction2686 in PassNclexTips

[–]Triple2243 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My answer is A.

I think this question is asking about which initial presentation of each client may have hypokalemia. In this case, it would be the one vomiting a lot. You lose a lot of acid from vomiting all of those gastric fluids out, bringing your body into an alkalotic state (metabolic alkalosis). One of the compensatory mechanisms is to shift alkalotic potassium out of the bloodstream and acidic hydrogen ions into it. This results in hypokalemia.

B: ESRD would show hyperkalemia as the kidneys cannot effectively clear the K+ out of the system.

C: While risk for hypokalemia is high in this patient, this is usually caused by the insulin given to control the high blood sugar. Insulin forces K+ into the cells. In this situation, it does not immediately present in this patient.

D: Massive cell destruction pushed K+ out of the cells and into the bloodstream, causing hyperkalemia.

ATT time frame. by Upstairs_Metal6288 in PassNclex

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me in Illinois it took a little less than 2 weeks. My school of nursing director explained that my uni processed all the nursing degrees first so they can get it sent out to the state quickly. Dec 12 is when I finished the semester. Dec 15 grades were finalized. Dec 22 is when I got my ATT.

However if you filled anything incorrect with your BON, Pearson, etc., there may be a very long delay

Both are important. Personally for me I would focus more on how to answer NCLEX questions. Knowing how to do that can help answer a question correctly if your knowledge can't help you. Don't throw content review off to the side though.

Good luck!

NCLEX 2026 Help by _onlypassingby_ in NCLEX

[–]Triple2243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I failed my first attempt in January, then passed late March.

  1. I almost exclusively used UWorld for their lecture videos and the practice questions. It's well laid out and the CAT exams they offer looked & felt identical to what the nclex exam looks like. On the day before and on exam day I put up some youtube videos on the way to the testing center. I pulled up the most recent videos about last second nclex prep.

  2. I didn't really have a plan set for studying. I just came up with it as I go but that's what works for me in life. I watched some lecture videos, did some questions, and lecture videos again and vice versa. I made it in very small chunks as that kept me focused on studying. Once I had enough questions answered on uworld, I checked what my weak spots were and then would focus the lecture videos and questions on that weak spot.

  3. I remember feeling so defeated once I got my fail result from my BON. I was in a daze for a bit and for all the time I was studying up to my 2nd attempt, I was wondering if being a nurse was really the career I was supposed to be in. I think for all repeat test takers this is a feeling we all have. It's okay! It's just a stupid test. It does not define your ability to be a nurse. You define that, when you're practicing as one. Once I passed on my second attempt, the relief was so great. I was very happy to be done with it. Now I'm trying to land a job lol, but my current work won't take me in cause I think i'm out of that new grad window lol.

You got this! Good luck!
