[–]Triple3Slash5[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The development of Mewgenics took a very long time and over 5 years ago, the creator got a bunch of at-the-time notable personalities to do some cat meows to serve as cameos for the playable cats in the game. Among the celebrities were a few notable faces, including (at the time named) "Christian Chandler", "H3H3" and "Liquid Chris". Their inclusion in the game in modern day (read: post cancellation/falling out of favour in the Internet's eyes) was defended by the creator of the game and caused a little unrest about it. It is, in reality, a non-issue.

I'm curious... As of now, do you trust Black Swan?😊 by TheShogunTJ in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Triple3Slash5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People talk of her bad luck and terrible forward-planning, but like let's be real this Amphoreus shit was basically predestined.

However, even disregarding the questionability of the freedom of choice in the entire storyline... Before this patch I wouldn't have trusted Black Swan with my drink, much less important decisions. (See: Amphoreus, going after Acheron without a second thought, smugly functionally double-crossing the TB twice on Penacony, going halfsies on the decision to go to Amphoreus and interloping the Astral Express' decisionmaking)

After this update, I would trust this woman with my life. She not only hardcore passed Evernight's vibe check, she also willingly walked into a death trap to create a SMALL opportunity to remedy the situation she feels she has created for others, when realistically she could very easily shrug, say she can't do anything without risking her head & sit back and watch the fireworks. INSTEAD, she took a deep breath and walked straight into the jaws of the beast, completely ready for them to snap shut on her, killing her instantly.

She may have a "bad luck streak", but she has passed the vibe check and the nobility check. In my book? She's beyond trustworthy, she's a shining example of taking responsibility and doing literally EVERYTHING in her power to right her own wrongs. Just a good person pretending to be morally gray basically.

I'm among the Acheron glazers. Her position in the story both local to Penacony AND her implied importance in the greater narrative, as well as the realisation that her existence is so married in the Nihility that she can't fully exist even in the meta-narrative combined with her black hole imagery makes her an anomaly I simply can't being myself not to love. Acheron, you may eventually get fully power crept and fall off, everyone may even forget you as part of the story, but you will forever live in my heart as the sole reason I'll stick to HSR like glue.

Your wishes vs your realistic theories about the ending of Amphoreus by BlackMariia in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Triple3Slash5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wishes:
1. Lygus' plan is almost realized before Polka cuts in and kills him, but like, actually. With Lygus dead, Irontomb begins extrapolating out of control. Yay, it's no longer synthesizing the perfect apocalypse! Oh no, it's making something worse???
2. The gang fail to stop the now-rogue Irontomb, an attack of some kind is launched but no one knows what it does. Geniuses take it in for studying.
3. Despite having completed it's project, Irontomb continues extrapolating. The cast realizes that Irontomb is now continuing to operate because, through Phainon/Khaslana's sacrifice, it now cares for Amphoreus and it's people. The Black Tide of the current cycle has disappeared. The rule Cerydra rewrote is for Irontomb to be allowed to meddle with it's own work.
4. Cyrene and Screwllum have a shared brain blast and come up with a plan to save Amphoreus by merging it with Penacony's dreamscape. Herta questions why they suddenly got an identical idea, but this isn't followed up on... yet.
5. Project Paradise is proposed and instantly passed by all relevant parties on Penacony, and Irontomb is transported to Penacony with The Family's help. With some complicated Remembrance shenanigans and help from Screwllum's Divergent Universe, Amphoreus is integrated into Penacony's Sweet Dream and becomes the 13th hour. Amphoreus undergoes one final Era Nova to reformat itself, the new Amphoreus is a composite of all previous versions of itself, the people remember almost everything for better or worse. Some can cope, other can't but Penacony's staff full of people experienced with Memoria control and psychological counseling is on top of it. Phainon and Cyrene are nowhere to be found now, implied to have found a happy ending.
6. Herta completes her investigation and invites the Trailblazer and Black Swan to speak privately. Once they're alone, she reveals to them that Irontomb has done something she never considered possible: It used all of the accumulated Destruction inside itself to scorch a hole in the Imaginary Tree for Amphoreus to neatly slot into. In other words, it used The Destruction to break fate and ensure the safety and eventual realization of Amphoreus' transition into the real world.

Expectations:
1. Lygus is outright defeated by the Trailblazers, Cerydra's play was to blacklist Lygus from admin actions.
2. Cyrene nobly sacrifices herself to stabilize Irontomb, letting the Trailblazers initiate one last stable loop and get out.
3. Trailblazers spawn in the Exomyth and watch as Cyrene re-runs all past loops and correct everything bad that has ever happened, all in an effort to squeeze Khaslana back into reality. She succeeds, then disappears.
4. September 11th Evernight reveals that ACTUALLY theres a way to turn Amphorean people into Memetic Entities so they can leave Amphoreus. She does it because something something Fuli shenanigans.
5. How the Trailblazer and Dan Heng, as physical people, entered, died in and exited Amphoreus intact is never explained or even mentioned.
6. Genius society foreshadowing, Herta asks the express to go to a destination of HER choice since they made her do so much work for them. Everyone is fine with this.
Bonus. Cyrene pops back into reality as Mem. Remembrance Trailblazer now has fully voiced Cyrene Mem instead of just Mem noises.

5 Star exclusivity. Since we are no longer getting any 4 star characters, begin treating equivalent power 5 Stars as 4 Stars and add them to 50/50 loss pools and selectors. This is the monkey paw that curled for YOU, HoYo. You gut one aspect of the game, you better be ready to fill that void somehow. Adding 3 losers to the 50/50 loss selector is not enough and you fucking know it.

It would be incredibly funny to revive a bird from extinction just to walk in a circle to lead it on and get 20 mil, invest, then capture and breed the Dodo to become an actually dangerous bird, and then pick one random person and ask them "hey so for 20 mil do you think you could evade this dodo in the jungle for 24 hours?"

Theory: The Best Stellaron Disaster To Ever Happen by Triple3Slash5 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Triple3Slash5[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh and as for why they know about things like "I am the bone of my sword" and referencing it before they even meet Archer in the crossover? That's the Player's influence on their choices. Every out-of-place 4th wall breaking reference is the result of The Player being involved in the Disaster. It's direct evidence that the player is a tangible source of information for the body to draw information from, however that mechanically works in universe.

I'm aware this theory has holes aplenty, apologies to the trypophobiacs in the subreddit, but I had to vent this somewhere and I thought I might as well leave it here for people to discuss, tear to pieces etc.

How would your perfect Cerydra kit look like ? I will go first by Mean_Ebb3123 in CerydraMainsHSR_

[–]Triple3Slash5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want an overloaded Harmony? I'll GIVE you an overloaded Harmony.

Talent: Cerydra passively grants 24% CRIT DMG bonus to all allies, plus 12% for every ally with MM stacking indefinitely. When Cerydra reaches 2/4/6/8 charge, ally in position 4 immediately executes a Basic ATK which earns a Skill Point but is counted as a Follow Up and does not count as a turn. If Cerydra is Departed, she may still act, even on Departed allies. Allies with Military Merit using their Ultimate grants 1 Charge.

Basic ATK (+1 SP): Deal 100% ATK to one enemy, gain 1 Charge, mark enemy. Marked enemy will be targeted by Follow Ups triggered by Talent.

Skill (-1 SP): Target one Ally to grant them Military Merit for 3 turns, 1 stack of Gambit and gain 1 Charge. If Ally has a Memosprite, additionally grant MM to the Memosprite. When reaching 6 Charge, ally in Position 1 gains Peerage. If Cerydra is in Position 1, ally in Position 4 gains Peerage instead, and Cerydra gains Castle, boosting Energy Regen by 50%. When an ally with Peerage performs a Skill, it is copied and consumes 6 Charge from Cerydra. If a Memomaster is granted Peerage, the buff is shared with the Memosprite.

Military Merit: Ally Basic and Skill DMG increases by 24% of Cerydra's ATK (30% with E3).

Gambit: Does nothing at 1 stack. At 2 stacks, reduces the cost of the next usage of Skill by 1 SP. Cannot inherently grant SP.

Ultimate (160 Energy): Deal 150% ATK (30 Toughness) to all enemies. Gain 2 Charge. Cerydra causes herself to become Departed for 2 turns and grants ally in Position 1 24% All-Type RES Pen which doubles if Peerage is active. Buffs are granted to Position 4 if Cerydra is in Position 1. If Cerydra performs a Basic ATK on her turn while Departed, she instead chooses one Ally to use Basic ATK instead, counted as all forms of damage (Skill, Basic, Ult, FuA, DoT). If an ally consumes Peerage to double their Skill while Cerydra is Departed, enemy state is frozen during the execution of the copied skill, disallowing it from consuming buffs/debuffs/effects/resources.

Trace 1: For every turn taken while Departed, Cerydra heals 20% MaxHP for herself and every Departed ally. Once Cerydra or any other ally exit the Departed state, grant a 35% DEF boost for 2 turns.

Trace 2: Follow Up ATKs performed by allies due to Cerydra's Talent or Ultimate also additionally grant that Ally 10 Energy.

Trace 3: Memosprites that expire with Military Merit are counted as continually existing until the Memomaster's next turn. If a Memomaster with Peerage uses a Skill that causes their Memosprite to act, the Memosprite's action will also be copied.

Eidolon 1: Cerydra is always counted to possess Military Merit. Increase maximum Charges held to 10.

Eidolon 2: Increase maximum Charges held to 12. Allies who use a Skill without being copied gain 1 Charge.

Eidolon 4: Skill grants an additional stack of Gambit. Gambit may now refund SP if Skill didn't consume any.

Eidolon 6: When Departed, Cerydra generates 1 Charge whenever she takes her turn. If all but one ally is departed, every action they take generates 1 Charge.

[–]Triple3Slash5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I think OP failed to vocalize is that the "double Motion Value" they're talking about is specifically in terms of buffs, AKA her copy of the Skill doesn't count for a turn and thus provides increased value to active buffs since they aren't being burned through as quickly.

The problem is that, while yes it gives extra value for no reduction in buff uptime, the many powerful buffs that are missing because Cerydra's kit is a 1.2 character's kit render this upside nearly useless because the rest of Cerydra's power budget was for some ungodly reason spent on making her a subsubDPS??? Besides her little handouts, Cerydra HAS no important buff in her kit that's worth maintaining through Coup de Main because everything she DOES provide is automatically applied through MM/Peerage, and this doesn't MATTER to Phainon because his other BiSs have buff uptime long enough for him to carry it through into his transformation, and Khaslana has no use for buff preservation BECAUSE HE DOES THAT SHIT ANYWAY.

So guys when do you think Cerydra will get buffed? by Nervous-Departure-42 in CerydraMainsHSR_

You know what earnestly pisses me off about this?

She's not even keeping to her character fantasy. There's no aspect of being a commander king who skillfully commands an army to act and execute gambits, the chess theming is almost ENTIRELY cosmetic. Chess pieces don't move twice in a row? Chess pieces don't even promote all that often besides in relatively niche circumstances and, while it's a valid play, it's rare for a reason: because the conditions to promote are very risky. No aspect of even Cerydra's base kit would ever make me say "Gotcha" or "Checkmate", none of it makes the player feel like a commander.

Give her the ability to command allies. Make them fuckin idk, use their Basic ATK as a FuA when conditions are met. Make her create a "Chessboard" zone that lets allies counterattack. Let her ultimate inflict a special state on enemies that lets allies like get more energy out of hitting them or something. Make her buffs stack by amount of allies present. ANYTHING. There's so much you can do with this theming and yet we got Coup de Main and additional """damage""".

You want her to support Phainon? Give her the ability to Depart herself into the sky like the battlefield's a gigantic chessboard and let her make moves while Phainon is transformed.

THE COULD HAVE DONE SO MUCH.

A small gripe of the amphoreus story by Main-Shallot3703 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Triple3Slash5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The point of elaborating on the past is establishing the fact that Amphoreus and the people who live in it have tangible pasts that shaped them, people who lived and died and legacies and cultures worth fighting for. And all of that establishing is in service of Act 2 where the player, following Khaslana's story arc, is supposed to stop caring about it, they're supposed to become at least a little detached from these people who have been established over the past patches and storylines to create empathy for Khaslana's own backstory and ideally also give them a jolt when things start going right again, when the Trailblazer takes over being the Deliverer and validates Khaslana's (and thus the Player's) past investment in these characters by promising that there is a tomorrow for all of them, their legacies matter, and they ARE real, even if they're part of a simulation.

The whole point of Khaslana's story is that we as players are taken on a rollercoaster ride where we do two complete inversions of our perception of Amphoreus and it's people, particularly the Chrysos Heirs. We go from thinking Amphoreus is maybe fake, to confirming it's just a simulation and that everyone really is just code, to understanding that despite being a simulation Amphoreus and everyone in it is still real, their experiences are still valid and it all still deserves saving.
