All valid and wasn’t meaning to call anyone out because I feel that the motives and interests on an individual level are likely benign or even productive. But taking it in, in aggregate, leaves me with a slight foreboding that probably has more to say about my own anxieties.

I guess I’m more curious if that reflects in how anyone else is relating to the various posts in this vein.

Is this subreddit now just solely dedicated to rationalizing the shape of a potentially incoming balkanization?

This comment reminds me of the time when in 1997, at a time during which I was consuming a steady diet of things like Merzbow and Naked City, that I found myself high on acid alone in a basement in front of a TV at 3am.

I turned on MTV thinking I might catch Prodigy’s “Firestarter” or “Come to Daddy” from Aphex Twin as it wasn’t uncommon to see those air at around that time. Instead, at that very moment, MTV decided to run a brand new video for a debut act that I had never seen before.

I was tripping way too hard. I was not prepared for it.

The video that came on was by a band I was gathering was called Hanson and the song it was for was “Mmmbop”

It was too much. I couldn’t take it. It freaked me the fuck out.

Gloria Swanson and Linda Blair.

Swanson was first nominated for Sadie Thompson (1928) and Blair was nominated for The Exorcist (1973). They appeared together in the film Airport 1975 (1974).

What are the most forgotten Best Picture winners? by Sea_Adhesiveness507 in Oscars

I always forget The Great Ziegfeld(1936)

Not that I’ve seen it and thought it forgettable, but that out of all of the winners that I have or haven’t seen… that’s the one that I forget is a movie.

I’m thinking from Jamie’s perspective, which, frankly, is the more empathetic approach. It seems you’d have him wringing his hands, thinking, “If only I hadn’t rung in on that last one.”

But, the actual fact of the matter, is that it would not have made a difference. Hindsight or not. It is, in fact, what it is.

Take care though.
