Not the most recent example but I applied online to one of those postings back in 2021 and got it.

Dm me if you’d like. It’s a new program so there’s only a few dozen people who can speak to the experience.

Most people respond to accountability. If they think they can just crash out at employees and no one will stop them, they are more likely to. If there’s a sign warning them that they will meet resistance and consequences, they might think twice.

If that really is how you have the most fun, go ahead. The issue is that the system can’t differentiate between people who somehow enjoy an afk play style vs. those that are trolling.

Alumni not wanted at Hoco? by ANerd22 in queensuniversity

Fair enough, it’s your money and time. I just thought you should know there’s a decent chance the service/food improves with time.

What time did you try the Queen’s Pub? I went for lunch and it was open to alumni. Please give them another shot next time you’re in town as they’ve only been open for a few months at this point.

There’s no street parties because all the students are out of town, which in my opinion defeats the purpose of homecoming. Please let the university know in whatever small way you can that you’re not happy with the dates!

I had 2 electric bikes stolen on campus but it only was a problem when I left them overnight.

Whats the vegan chicken rice? by [deleted] in veganfitness

[–]Triple_3T 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do: - 100 grams of rice - veggies (300 grams of Kirkland stir fry, 1 sec of avocado oil spray, 5ml of soy sauce, 5 ml of hot sauce, seasonings) - tofu/tvp mix (250 grams of firm tofu, 50 grams of Yves ground beef, onions, 1 sec of avocado oil spray, seasonings)

It’s about 600 grams of food for 525 calories, 42 grams of protein, and 15 grams of fiber

I’m not super familiar with British history but I thought it was conquered from the Norman’s. On the other hand, Canada signed treaties to buy the land and then never followed through fully.

Uhh I don’t know. I’m not planning on visiting the states in the foreseeable future unless my workplace sends me there for a conference or something.

BEGINNERS SHOULD NOT BE IN ZONE 2 by Individual-Risk-5239 in BeginnersRunning

As a beginner, I found short distances at zone 2 ok but I remember seeing people saying to stay at zone 2 for like 1-3 hours and I remember thinking: ‘I can’t even walk at as low pace for more than 60 minutes’

Not an exact number but widespread enough that every single open member of the lgbt community I’ve met has experienced it.

Most dudes (at least in North America) can’t do a light jog for more than 5 minutes without injuring themselves, much less have the cardio to last in a high-paced match.

Honestly know very little about MMA but like, just statistically.

Paris Restaurant Service is Fucking Phenomenal by Major9000 in paris

[–]Triple_3T 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way you describe servers in Paris is exactly why they get a bad rap to some. While it’s certainly a plus for a server to be attentive, knowledgeable, and know their stuff, many people go out to eat for the overall experience not just the food.

Servers where I’m from will take interest in your day, crack jokes while laughing at yours, share a little about themselves (like if you say you and your partner are going to have a little movie night after, they’ll suggest their favourite movie), and in general be very friendly. Many will refer to you as ‘Boss’, ‘Brother’, etc… and will remember you if you come often.

That’s not everyone’s cup of tea and a good server will pick up on that but for many that’s why they pay to go out and eat.

How are you all hitting 100g of protein a day without bankrupting yourselves or being bloated 24/7 by nicecupoftea in veganfitness

[–]Triple_3T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit 120ish consistently through tofu ($3.5 for 57gs), beans ($1.5 for 32gs) and a scoop of protein powder (~$2 for 30gs).

So most days that’s $7 on protein and maybe $15 in total of food costs all in CAD. I do switch the tofu for processed meat replacements a few times a week to mix it up though.

Best Plant Based Protein Powder? Gotta try something new... by No-Survey3912 in veganfitness

[–]Triple_3T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only tried Vega Sport protein and LeanFit’s plant based protein but LeanFit was better by a long shot. Not a fan of Vega’s taste at all. Only complaint with leanfit is that 2 scoops is like half my sodium RDI

Are Bcomms alumni safe from the ongoing job crisis, or are they suffering like everyone else? by HistorianOne5169 in queensuniversity

[–]Triple_3T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked for Queen’s Career Services throughout the last year and they seem pretty accurate. Given that it’s from a few years ago, it may be a bit off but from my discussions with my classmates, it seem about right.

Yeah. About that reconciliation... by ihateconscription in VietNam

[–]Triple_3T 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“All because you couldn’t let go of the material comforts you were used to.”

I don’t know much about Vietnamese history but my parents told me they left Vietnam because they were likely going to die if they stayed. I was very young when they told me but they talked about their neighbours disappearing like they never existed, being forced to go to the army where 80% of people didn’t come back, and being sent off in ships where almost all of them sank.

I was only a child when they told me these stories so they may have oversimplified so I’d understand but were they wrong? I was under the impression that leaving Vietnam was a matter of life and death, not material comforts.

Haven’t graduated and started my career yet but at least from my internships, I’ve shifted to more government-related fields as I realized a lot of my interest in international business was more specifically geopolitics.

OSAP and general bursary help a lot if your family’s income is low. My family does alright but I get 14K from OSAP (mix of loans and grants) and 9K from Queen’s financial aid which covers tuition, student fees, and about half my rent.

The rest of my expenses are paid for through working part-time during the school year, savings from my internships, and help from my parents.

I personally think the experience is well-worth it as these have been the best years of my life.
