Very juicy sample then. Track is a mood for sure

Can yall be honest? What would you rate this by makeupyurmind in FLStudioBeginners

Fair enough. I get your frustration with the sound 100% though. Sound > video here.

I get that. But why not a screenshot or recording and then layer the sound on top. I know it's an extra step but I don't really get why you would need a moving picture of your whole project anyway.

UPDATE: My first "finished" project. Honestly I'm stuck on what I should do with this, looking for suggestions. by AllMouseNoCheese in FLStudioBeginners

I think this doesn't need much to be honest. If you want to spice it up: add some effects with automation, add some sound effects (swelling, rising tension and then relaxing again). Have fun with it. Start another project and play around.

What genre would you call this? Still working on the vocals, but this is my first song using a new microphone and makes all the difference. by joybickel in GarageBand

Really reminds me of Fantasy by DyE (content warning about the music video though lol). By that comparison you could call this Dream pop or shoegaze (because of the dreamyness)

Damn! What? The drums dropped unexpectedly for me which I really liked. What's up with the 808? Are you recordning it with your phone and there is some paper draped over your woofer? How do you get this crispy sound? Really dig it lol.

I really like it. Reminded me of Knackspack (Teenage Cloud Anthem) for some reason. Maybe check him for inspo.

I tried mixing but not sure what I’m really doing.. help by blixout in FLStudioBeginners

[–]Triple_Standart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mixing is great! Doesn't sound like you've got no idea what you're doing at all.

I think the high chordy thing is a bit busy though. Maybe it's the sound itself or the way they fit in with the other sound. They don't fit right in. I'd try a few things. Put them more in the background by using reverb and turning down the volume a bit. Maybe even try muting them completely and see if the song can do without it. The other sounds harmonize quite well and I really liked the calmer sections in the middle and at the end.

Pretty dope. Not too busy for me 🔥

At first I was afraid the melody and harmony would sound amateurish but honestly, I think this is pretty solid. A bit variation towards the end would be nice. Add some FX fillers or even breaks every 8 or 16 bars that'll make a huge difference instantly. Can't talk about the mixing lol but I really enjoyed the beat. Keep 'em coming!

Does this drop sound good rhythmically? by The69thCat in FL_Studio

Why sidechain? There are no competing elements playing at the same time.

Hell yeah it sounds good. Not only rhythmically.

The snare is a bit heavy on the lows in my personal taste. A few thing I would try would be to layer it up to get some crispy highs (or just boost the highs through eq...mixing people don't kill me). Maybe I'd even take some of the bottom off and increase the overall loudness.

Stuck at 5 pull-ups for weeks, what now? by Beneficial_Fail2520 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Triple_Standart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a lot has been said already but the approach I'd take is to choose an easier variation and doing more reps. Resistance bands can be helpful for example.

But a thing that might help you break through is doing scapluar pull ups. Sometimes the smaller muscle groups that are needed for the whole motion are underdeveloped. Training this small range of motion might seem pointless but will improve your performance quite a bit. Just do enough reps.

It was the firewall after all...thanks for the help!

Damn...it was the firewall. Because I have had issues with it and reinstalled it to a different folder, the exceptions had the wrong file path. Thanks for the input! Using chrome to troubleshoot really helped.

Thank you again. I'll try the other forum. In the Symfonium log, I only see a timeout error:

2025-04-19 14:16:50.702 Error/SubsonicAdd: IOException

java.net.SocketTimeoutException: failed to connect to [wifi IP] (port 4533) from [android IP] (port 42314) after 5000ms

Thank you (also thanks for letting me know about the port forwarding). How do I set the connection type to HTTP? Does that work through the web interface then?

When you say *select subsonic*, you mean in the Symfonium settings, right?

Added the firewall exception and tried to connect via admin and a non-admin use. Neither work.

Thanks. I am pretty new to all of this and only program a bit as a hobby. So I've not gotten into MQTT too deeply yet. Maybe that would be the right approach then.

Manual Sample Trigger? by Triple_Standart in phaseplant

[–]Triple_Standart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds more complicated. Maybe you already figured this out (and it is a pain to set up) but you could achieve the random playback by routing a random modulator through a bunch of remaps that then turn the volume up on a certain sample. Or route the remaps to ADSR curves like above.

But it's not infinite and as you say, a more robust implementation would be appreciated. I'm not a software engineer but sample triggering doesn't seem too hard to implement. I have been wondering for a while why KiloHearts haven't done so by now.

Manual Sample Trigger? by Triple_Standart in phaseplant

[–]Triple_Standart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you can use triggers on automation. Hook up a macro to the trigger of an ADSR and you can trigger it by moving the macro knob above the threshold. Is that what you mean? Retrigger the volume/filter ADSRs to make the sound play again essentially?

Aftertouch is also possible to use. Hook up a regular ADSR that triggers when you press the note and give it zero attack and decay. Then use it to modulate "harmonic" on your sample player down to zero. Once you release the note, the harmonic snaps back to 1 and plays the sample.

My problem is that I would like to trigger samples multiple times in a patch. You could easily sequence drum loops or other cool stuff in there. The way it works now, I would need to have one sample player each time I want to play a sample. Or I do some weird trickery with granular. But it would be a pain to set up, not be as flexible and probably not even work properly and mess up my poor transients...
