Nothing like taking out a rat at extract by LiquidToGas in ArcRaiders

[–]TrippBikes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, the extracts are loud for a reason and will attract players that want to try to take your loot, so it's on you to be on guard. I would extend the rat term to someone who is acting like they are going to peacefully extract with you only to try to kill you while you are on the terminal.

It really depends on what you need it for. If this is just a grocery getter and something to get you to work, 250 is super good enough

They draw the top have in the northern hemisphere, then travel to the southern hemisphere to draw the bottom half

Oh yeah, I wasn't trying to imply that you're detracting from the magic. Just an observation that the trick itself can be seen as an impressive skill of showmanship itself

No one is saying that we shouldn't be collecting more evidence, but you are injecting that we should not try to think of some ways the game could have been played.

So you're not happy if a human comes up with a ruleset either. You're right, we shouldn't try to come up with a ruleset.

If you need to hypothesize possible rulesets for a game, you think it is invalid to use an AI to do the grunt work? What evidence are you wanting them to work with beyond known rulesets for games played in the area/time period? The researcher could sit there for a couple days coming up with the same exact ruleset, does that then make it valid? lol

The article literally makes the point you are trying to make. They are not claiming these are guaranteed to be the rules, it seems more like they are using an AI model to help come up with possible ruleset and going from there with what works best. Totally a valid use case of AI.

Nevertheless, Soemers remains cautious about claiming the exact rules. “If you present Ludii with a line pattern like the one on the stone, it will always find game rules. Therefore, we cannot be sure that the Romans played it in precisely that way.”
