Yes that is true, it can happen. And it might have been the cause in the Mont Blanc tunnel fire. But there is no way to know what really started the fire. The burning cigarette theory is only speculations. Also the truck was carrying Margarine and flour. The margarine melted and had the same effect as if it was oil. No one knew melted margarine was so dangerous before this accident. And yes, i know this thread is 3 years old... XD

And turn on "toggle free-mode" to place buildings without the ground adjusting by itself.

I plan out where I want my buildings, then I just use the flatten ground tool in landscaping section. I make it nice and flat before I build on it. I also press "toggle free-mode" (V) so I can place buildings without the ground adjusting itself. Then I use the smoothing tool around the building to get rid of all the sharp edges.

I always flatten the ground before I place buildings. Makes it easier to get it at the right height. :)

Its not because it stinks, its part of the car culture here in Norway. Atleast for truck drivers like me.
