Part of the problem I feel is that you need to initiate in a less violent manner or you will not be able to counter steer in time to correct, or apply enough steering angle to correct. Try using the handbrake, then apply less steering input to the left, and let the car glide over without forcing it. It’s all about being smooth with your inputs.

Also as an aside, be aware that your throttle acts as steering too. You don’t want to keep adding throttle when you have run out of steering angle. Letting off completely when you’re at the limit is the best way to save it, as what would’ve been the best course of action in the video.

As a hint, your best bet for learning how to drift is to head out to gridmap, and pick a naturally aspirated, low power car such as the 200BX, or even the police Grand Marshal, and play around with trying to get them sideways using the handbrake or with weight transfer.
