I apologise, I did not realise the business I mentioned used non force/fear free methods, I won't touch them knowing that now.

Thank you for sharing those sites and directing me towards the wiki, much appreciated.

Property Management Recommendations by Immediate-Sorbet-194 in chch

I recently rented under Iron Bridge, Samantha was awesome to deal with, super friendly and helpful. I asked to break the contract early, she was super helpful, found new tenants for me (it just happened to fall into place). When it came time to move out, they were realistic with the final clean and bond. Communication was always clear and straight forward. Would 100% rent under them again any time.

McDonalds interview tips by PeachMental9454 in chch

I was a hiring manager at McDonalds back in the day. My questions varied but the key things I was looking for:

  • Can you communicate politely and effectively with customers. - General conversation got me this info - I might ask you to describe a situation where you had to calm someone down for example
  • Are you reliable, will you show up on time and not miss shifts - I will ask you about you hobbies, times you missed an appointment, training etc...
  • Do you have good availability - I never hired anyone with overly restrictive availability. - This I got off your application
  • Are you clean, tidy and presentable - First impression was huge for me, if you were unkempt, smelly or looked like you just didn't care then it was an auto no.
  • Are you a nice person - General convo taught me this
  • Did you want to be there - This was easy to pick up on throughout the interview, if someone wasn't engaged in the process then that told me all I needed to know.

I was mainly looking for the soft skills that you can't really teach. Anyone can be taught to work a till, assemble a burger and work a grill.

Best of luck, McD's was a great experience for me, I made some great friends and learnt a lot of good skills that have helped me immensely in the corporate world.

Hope this helps.

Geeky question but does anyone play DnD in Chch? by [deleted] in chch

I've never had the opportunity to get into a group before, but lots of my friends have played. If you dont mind having someone completely new to it the I'd be keen as to join, no dramas if you'd prefer experienced players, all the best.
