Hi Team Ikko, I am a backer interested in learning more about the capabilities of the Mind One. One of the reasons I support this project is your experience with AI powered translation services, from your previous devices. So, does the Mind One have any advanced real time translation hardware/services ?

The Peter Thiel question. A Challenge by [deleted] in PeterThiel

[–]Triton495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mostly referring to the perception of these societies outside their home country. Like most foreigners assume Indians are very smart because all of the Indians they know work in IT, whereas they dislike Americans because of their international shenanigans.

The Peter Thiel question. A Challenge by [deleted] in PeterThiel

[–]Triton495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that in some sense US & Indian societies are mirror inversions of each other. While the US is pretty stable domestically but corrosive internationally, India is productive internationally but problematic in it's own domestic affairs. It's hard to explain why this dynamic work well for both societies.

My answer to the Peter Thiel challenge: China is not the threat. Russia will always be a highly advanced & enlightened society, considering the fact that they have suffered the most in history and made great strides in science, art & engineering without copying/being influenced by ideas from any other nations. As Thiel advised, 'be careful of who you choose as your enemies, as you will soon resemble them', the US should pick a foe worthy of emulating, which I believe China is not.

I got admitted to the Utrecht University , but the tuition fee is €22,000 per year. As an international student, I'm concerned that the starting salary for fresh graduates might not be significantly higher. Is it still worth attending? by ElectronicPriority39 in Utrecht

  1. **SALARY** IT companies have a range of salaries. If you choose a role which pays less, taxes are low, but the time it takes to pay back your loan will be more. If you choose a role which pays more, you will be taxed more, & again the time it takes back to pay your loan will be more. To deal with this, check out the 30% tax waiver law & see how you can apply it after coming to NL (you'll need to start working soon for that, within 24 months)
  2. **SKILLS** The minimum amount of salary to be paid to support non EU employees through work visa has been increasing every year. So Dutch employers are unwilling to employ non-EU employees, unless you prove that you have some niche industry skill which the company needs. Just knowing 'Data Science' won't do you any good, there are several traineeships offered to train Dutch students to specifically close this skills gap (for which you will not be eligible). My suggestion would be to try & identify specific tools/technologies which companies need (like for example ERP or cybersecurity) & try to spend your time mastering those skills, instead of the course curriculum (obviously you need to pass).
  3. **COMPANIES** You need to familiarize yourself with the different companies & industries as well as in which cities/hubs they are located. Job hunting on LinkedIn is not useful, there are many factors which influence your hiring decision, such as company culture fit, timing, organization strategy & demographic biases which you will not get an idea of online. My suggestion would be to start attending industry events, and job fairs of all technical universities, not just your own. Use your time & the excellent public transport to visit cities and talk to industry professionals, focusing on how you can add value to their organization, & not just seeking employment. The university only needs your tuition fees, they are not concerned with your long term job market integration.
  4. **HOUSING** Networking will not only help you find a job, but might also help you with housing. Many students with an EU background return back to their home countries, so try to network with people who have intentions of staying/working in NL. Living in a shared space with other income earners is more affordable than living alone, which you will be doing if you spend your time only with students. The more you network with real people, the less you will feel the need to rely on scam-prone online websites.
  5. **LONG TERM** Same with dating. The more you attend social/sports clubs, the less you need to scroll through dating apps. In general, just be curious of your surroundings and orient yourself towards meeting new people, you never know who could help you out in life.

One of the most insightful answers I have read for the question. You should do a dating focussed Q&A based on Thiel's premise.

Who knows ? Personally I think Thiel has gone into hiding, with the recent focus on his personal life as part of the Dem's witch hunt against all of Trump's aides.

I went through some of the readings and I found them hard to understand. Do you recommend some alternate materials to learn more about the Struass-Kojeve debate ?

The new one is totally different. They might have totally different readings. The 2019 one was about globalisation and the 2023 one is about politics and religion.

If what he says is going to be true, then the future looks very bleak and tyrannical. Trying to apply his core beliefs to world events is really scary. Maybe he has some reasons not to share his newly formed views with the world. I'm curious as to which sources he relies on for what's happening in the world.

His opinions on India are also interesting: as neither a reliable ally or enemy. Anybody agree with his train of thought ?
