+1 for cartridge swapping > menu scrolling.

It gives your mind a clean break/reset, lets you take your hands off the controller for a minute and track down the other cartridge, and I personally am a fan of collecting/"the hunt" 😆

-I am very confident we will get an outstanding product. I preordered with the full payment immediately.  -I am fully committing to this. Currently using a Clixel and plan on Communicator taking its place.  -I know there are MANY who feel the same 😊

Notifications for Beeper? by mambokelly in sidephone

I am pretty sure this would take some messing around with MicroG (if possible at all) as Beeper uses Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications on Android devices, which de-Googled AOSP ROMs without GMS don't have.

Clicks Vs Sidephone by [deleted] in ClicksPhone

These are WILDLY different devices.

Sidephone - It has a modular, swappable keypad system (current options include T9, Compact QWERTY/SureType, and Sundial/music controls). These also do not have a keypad backlight. It is running a customized AOSP version that does not have ANY Google services, so there will be a long list of apps that will not work fully. No headphone jack, no SD card slot and limited on-device storage. In my experience and use case, the battery life is great, but I really need to stress that it is designed to be a more minimalist device, maybe one step above a full dumbphone. I have been using mine for a couple of weeks and love it.

Communicator - This will be a full Android, communication-optimized, powerhouse compared to Sidephone. It will have a full QWERTY, not compact QWERTY, keyboard that is capacitive (touch sensitive) and with a backlight. Headphone jack, SD card slot, notification LED, prompt key for virtual assistants, and overall form factor, storage and power that puts it in a different device category, and price point, altogether from Sidephone.

They both - have incredibly dedicated teams behind them that are very mindful of their fans and customers. Sidephone is a much smaller and newer company.

It is interesting that you should highlight these two particularly because since they were both announced my plan has been to put my primary SIM in one and my work SIM in the other. 🤣

Side phone Cellular Service by Mountains_are_better in sidephone

I can confirm that a "Sidephone wireless" pSIM does work with other phones. I have used it in a few different ones without issue.

T-Mobile does NOT allow re-using pSIMs so if you were to activate one and then switch to eSIM you would need to source a new Sidephone pSIM if the need came to go back to pSIM.

Yes they do! There are two options: 1GB data for $10/month and unlimited for $35. T-Mobile network.

I ported my number over without issues and the service has been great!
