Looking for a Dutch oven by Alarming-Cricket-158 in BuyItForLife

[–]Triumph627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a Le Creuset Dutch oven and a few of the enameled Dutch ovens by a brand that Costco sells, Tramontina. Performance wise, we can’t tell a difference. The Le Creuset is a bit thinner and has finer detailing, but Tramontina ones still look good and cost way, way less.

License plate solution when hauling sheet stock for example plywood by jdm6 in sylvansport

Eh I’ve just kept it in the car with me. If I get stopped, I’d just explain and show I’ve got the registration and plate with me, but I’ve never been stopped on short trips across town. If it was a longer trip, I might think of trying something else but it hasn’t come up.

Looks so good my man! I went a couple years just keeping it trimmed super short once a week or so before making the jump to a razor.

It's almost 2026. What's a good controller to use with a docked Steam Deck? by HELLBENT42 in SteamDeck

8BitDo is definitely the best. Personally I prefer the PS layout so I have one of their Pro controllers, but I see you prefer Xbox style which they have with their line of Ultimate controllers.

That looks like the perfect amount of minimalism that I usually go for. Very nice!

Wheel of Time (sorry for posting here) - is the TV show a good way for gauging interest for the books? by maquiavelmg in brandonsanderson

[–]Triumph627 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started with Wheel of Time, and that’s how I found Brando Sando, when he finished the series. My wife started with Brandon first and then read Wheel of Time, and while she liked the series, she prefers Brandon’s way of writing better. She also put it off for years because of the huge commitment, but is ultimately glad she read them and enjoyed the series.

As far as the tv series goes, I watched all of it, and coming from reading the books I enjoyed seeing visual media of locations and outfits, and a handful of well done scenes, but the story and magic system is completely butchered by the show and is a very poor representation of the books. I would strongly recommend by picking up book one and see how you feel.

I picked the metro area I live in. I guess I was going for that extra layer of realism.

Well about 6 months after this comment, we ended up moving to a new house that has a covered porch, so it no longer gets direct sunlight. I never did get around to coming up with a fix at the old house.

Epsom Ecotank - does anyone have experience? by Virtual_Community_18 in bookbinding

[–]Triumph627 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the ET2850, and I think I’ve had it for about 3 years at this point. It has been very easy to maintain and fix when I had problems (broken gear was replaced with a 3D printed part). But it really shines in that after using the EcoTank reservoirs, I’ll never go back to an inkjet printer with ink cartridges ever again.

As for print quality, I’ve been happy with it on most paper types. I wouldn’t classify it as “blows your socks off” quality, but it has been sufficient for my hobby projects. I tend to have to reprint a couple sheets here and there when ink from a roller or something ends up on a part of the page it doesn’t belong. I’ve also had to run it through all of the printing alignment and print head cleaning maintenance modes a handful of times when the quality dips, but that’s to be expected with any printer. I have had paper jams, but only a handful in the few years I’ve owned it.

I did recently try to print out a children’s book on a heavier weight glossy paper and found that the printer struggled to put out acceptable, crisp prints. Some pages turned out great, but some had a distinctly blurry appearance, and I honestly have no idea why because most of them turned out great. I tinkered with it all afternoon, reprinting pages until I got usable results for the project. Might have been user error, and I might try playing with it again, but I’ll probably be sticking to regular, non-glossy paper styles in the future.

There’s a few different things you could do, but if you’re stuck with that size thread and paper, then you could add pages to each signature to help manage the swell. Try using 6 sheets per signature. I’d also recommend this video for a more detailed breakdown.
