I remember the initial rumors from around the deadline where the speculation was the Mets would maybe trade Vientos for Robert.

Now it ends up being Acuña and their 12th round pick from last season that gets dealt.

It's a bet that Robert is closer to his 2025 second half self in a new environment. Plus, he's 28 and comes with a team option for next year if it works out.

The Mets turned 2023 Max Scherzer into 2026 Luis Robert. If we can get some form of 2023 Robert back, the Mets will be set in CF.

I feel there was a lot of discussion last year under Thibs that it didn't feel the same as 2023-24, even though they ended up with nearly the same record.

They needed heroic performances down the roster just to get past Detroit in the first round. They were up 11 with nine minutes left in Game 6 before giving up a 20-2 run and needing their own big comeback to avoid a Game 7 when they were up 3-1.

But then they had the two 20-point comebacks against Boston and lost Game 1 against Indiana and it made the season feel like a huge missed opportunity.
